Good algae eating fish for a 37 gallon

You could use a sailfin blenny. Although they really have no color they have a lot of personality. They will dramatically reduce the algae growth. Be aware that they can become aggressive. HTH

    Cycling Re

I would recommend you remove the fish durring the cycling process. Especially the dog face. See if the LFS will hold them for you while you complete your cycle. The cloudiness should clear up ounce things get settled.

    Refractometer

I just got mine the other day from northcoastmarine.com With shipping it set me back $110. I had it shipped next day because I was doing the same thing. Starting hypo and wanted to make sure my salinity level was correct. After checking my refratometer against my hydrometer I found the floating...

    What tank size?

I ended up with a 55 gallon. Got a good deal. I want a snowflake, clown trigger, and dwarf lion. Would these work in a 55? If not what would you suggest? Also there is no filtration on this setup. So any input on filtration would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Adding more live rock...please read

I think 50 in a 38 would look good. It's more a matter of what looks good than anything. Most people say 1-2 lbs per gallon. I have 50lbs in my 37 and it looks good to me.

    Evil Crab or Evil Shrimp???

More than likeley it was your shrimp. Another thought is how has your clown been doing? The emeralds will attack and kill injured/sick fish.

    Acclimating new guys

The hermits and snails you can pickup by hand. I used a small net on the shrimp and the crabs. If your net is to big to fit in the bag you could put the net over the end of the bag and pour the water out through the net and catch them that way.

    Evil Crab or Evil Shrimp???

What is the size of the shrimp? Also what size was the clown? I've been told that the CB shrimp will eat small fish. I don't think the crab could have caught the fish, but you never know.

can i get some help on how to set up a qt tank

I ran into the same situation last week. I ended up setting up another q-tank that wasn't cycled. I was told to just keep doing water changes if it started to cycle. Also keep the bottom bare and when you do a water change suck the suff of the bottom of the tank. I've had the tank running for...

    Fish compatibilty...Suggestions.

kalisad, I buy most of my fish from pet barn. I usually go in once a week just to checkout what they have. I've bought so much stuff from there I usually get a really good price. They've been trying to get me to work there, but it would be to much of a pay cut. Besides this is a hoby and I want...

will damsel get along with mean clown?

I don't think that it would be a problem to add the damsel. The damsels can be aggresive. If anything you may have to keep an eye on the damsel.

    Help me choose a fish!

It sounds as though you are pretty well stocked for a 46. Do you plan on upgrading in the near future? What kind of puffer do you have? As they grow they can get big enough to eat damsels.

    lionfish

It sounds like a dragon wrasse. They move all the LR around in your tank from what I have read. They are interesting fish. I have seen them in the LFS, but if you have anything else in the tank be careful, as they rearrange the LR and knock stuff over.

    ick in a reef tank

I just read a post and it sounded like a pretty good idea for catching your fish. They said they cut the bottom of a 2 litter bottle and lowered it slowly into the tank. They let it sit there for awhile, and then put a little food in there. When the fish swam in to get the food they put a net...

    Hypo Question?

Hypo will kill of anything that is living on your LR and LS. Why dont you setup a little bit larger q-tank and move the fish? I had to setup an additional tank due to the fact that I needed to treat all of my fish and my q-tank wasn't big enough.

I ordered a package from here last week and was pleased. I had a couple of snails die a few days later, but I believe that was from them falling over and not being able to get back up.
