Snow Flake Eel in my 16 Gallon Tank

    Huma Trigger is wrecking shop

Ouch, by next year he could easily gain another 3-4 inches. If you won't get rid of him you should definitely refrain from adding new tankmates.

    Huma Trigger is wrecking shop

I just noticed that in his profile. AngryCrab: If he is in a 29 then of course he's killing everything. He should be in a tank 2 times that big.

    marine betta

Yes, they definitely are not heavy eaters. They are very hardy though and don't seem to need much food. Great beginner fish.

    Chocolate Chip Star

You can feed them most any type of shrimp, fish, crab you want. I've had CC and red general starfish since I started the hobby and I've never had to bother feeding them. I have aggressive, messy fish so the stars just feed off of the pods on the glass and the waste in the tank.

    marine betta

Sure, but the pic does it absolutely no justice. One of the more unique looking saltwater fish I think.

    Huma Trigger is wrecking shop

My only question would be, why are you leaving him in there? Some fish are just unsuitable with other tankmates. Humas are normally not too bad, but if you've got a devil then get rid of him and aim for a more docile trigger.

    marine betta

I've had mine for a few years and it is going on 8" now. He is beautiful, but never very active. During the day it will come out and pick a spot in the tank to stay still in for a few hours. They are not aggresiive eaters, so I always have to spot feed mine with a piece of food and a skewering...

    Monster Morays!!!!!!!!!!!

I just feel bad for the customers who are told they are passive snowflake eels. One of the eels had been bought by a guy who put it in his 55 gallon fish only. So the eel ate well and got taken back.

    Monster Morays!!!!!!!!!!!

The LFS near me was selling them as snowflake eels. :notsure: So I got them for $60 a piece. I haven't seen them selling anywhere online, so it's hard to tell what a good price is.

    quaratine tank

Even if your tank does have ich, you can just lower the salinity in the QT tank to 1.009 and it will kill off the ich. I always hypo my fish while they are in QT anyway. The tank should be already cycled if you use the display water. That is not a gurantee though. I did a 10 gallon QT tank for...

peceful angel for a reef tank

I've had both in my reef. The flame never did any real damage but he did nip things at times and he sometimes bullied the clownfish. The coral beauty, however, was the sweetest fish that ever lived. I think there is a slight risk with a flame and much less risk with a coral beauty.

    LFS tanks

Yea, he was afraid big time. But then, so was I. I was so amazed to find not only one spotted eel there, but 2. These are some mean SOB eels. Great at feeding time though. They are doing great. I don't think a person could kill these monster eels if they wanted to. An LFS run by a marine...
