    kalkwasser

The pH will be very high, that is why it is reccomended that you drip it into your system. I use pickling lime and mix 1 tsp in 2 quarts of water. After it has settled, I use the clear solution and drip it in overnight or longer depending on how well I regulate the drip. HTH, cyn

    Help with Banghii cardinal please

Ok, this is getting me nowhere! I spelled it that way because that is how I have seen it spelled most often. No, I have not done anything different or added anything new. The fish was not breathing heavy or showing any signs of stress last night or this morning when I removed him to the QT...

Yes, I did QT the fish.. No, no harrasment either. The other banghii is FINE! As I posted, the water is testing fine and all of my other fish are well. I only posted here looking for help because I am stumped as to what happened. That is past tense because he passed this AM about 2 hours...

    Help with Banghii cardinal please

I tried searching for help but the search engine is not working right or something, so forgive me in advance. My problem is with banghii cardinals in general, but today my newest one was lying sideways on the sand when I turned on the lights. An attempt to net him got him right side up and...

What was the hardest part in setting up your reef?

I agree, WAITING!!! That was the hardest part. The second hardest part was finding accurate information. cyn

    wow

Oh, it gets worse as the tank gets personality! I can sit in front of my tank for hours and stare! Since I have set it up I hardly ever turn on the TV. Hmm.. if I stop paying for the satalite service I wonder what else I can buy for the tank??? Now there is an idea! I guess I need a life...

Why does my clown do this?

That's just it, he does this in several places and it is never near a coral. I am stumped and starting to think he is just 'gifted' if you know what I mean. cyn

Why does my clown do this?

Ok everyone, my cinnamon clown has developed a wierd habit. Every so often he swims to the bottom of the tank, sorta smells? the bottom and then turns around and stirs the sand up with his tail sending sand everywhere! Then he swims away? I have been home for a week and noticed him doing this...

    SAVE A dieing tank!!!!

Another way to add sand: Get a length of PVC pipe, 3 or 4 inches in diameter and about 20" long. Pour the sand down the pipe into the tank directing it where you want it. Much less mess this way. HTH, cyn

    what does it eat?

I guess I just got lucky, I have a CBS and Peppermints too. My CBS is out in the day time and at night and has never been agressive to anything. I too have been looking at the blood shrimp, but agree they are expensive. I think everyone else covered what they eat very well! My .02 cyn

    Please read!!! and reply

I have read that the life expectancy of most bulbs is in the 6 month range. Some will say a year, but if you bought your tank used and have had it for a year, I would definatly change the bulbs. It is expensive, but not as expensive as replacing your corals. I think you will be surprised by...

best coral host for a clown

My cinnamon clown is in love with 3 corals in my tank. None of the 3 seem to mind his fussing over them either. The corals he chose are: Green bubble, white bubble and green star polyps. This clown does not bother my leather, fox, torch, devils hand, octopus or any other coral in the tank...

    ? for Bubble Coral Owners

I am not sure of what a meat coral is, but I feed several of my corals regularly. My damn damsels and yellow tang steal what ever they can. The hardest to feed is the open brain because the fish have no trouble stealing from it. I try to put silversides directly on the mouths of the brain and...

    magnet cleaners?

I think these are great! I have one for each tank, mag float brand. I think they were under $20 each, I honestly do not remember. The only thing to remember with them is that your rock and coral have to be far enough away from the glass for the magnent to get past. Cyn

    Live Rock Decision... Help?

If you decide to go with uncured LR, and cycle with it, I would not run the skimmer at first. Give it a week or two and then fire up the skimmer. Just my .02 cyn

what do most people feed corals?

I too feed an assortment of stuff. Brine shrimp and silversides soaked in Zoe, Blood Worms, Formula One, Marine Quisine, Nori, chopped shrimp and squid. I am now trying to hatch brine shrimp to feed live brine, we will see how it goes. I also feed golden pearls, marine snow, DT's, phytoplex...

    someonehelppppppp

The ammonia level you posted is way to high for most corals. I too wonder how old your tank is. Has it cycled? If so, look for something that is causing the ammonia spike. If you fix this and the colt survives the resulting water changes, you should be fine. In the future, try to test your...
