    Yes!

Goldrush, They do break the bubbles but the idea is that they eat it faster than the algae can grow. They are there to keep the bubble algae in check. Since they do break the bubbles the algae will continue to propogate. My problem was that the bubble algae that I had continued to grow no matter...

I am going to try this question again.

Up until I bought the Salifert PH test kit I was using the one by Tetra. It constantly read 8.0. I just now tested the PH using the Salifert test kit, which was after the lights went out, and it still reads 7.7. The Tetra kit still reads 8.0. The CA reading, using the Salifert Kit, is 460. I...

I am going to try this question again.

Maybe I'll get a response this time. Alk: 13dKH CA: 460 PH: 7.7 I can't get the PH up to the 8.3 range. When I use Sechem Marine Buffer it raises my ALK but not my PH. The bottle says "Safely raises and maintains PH to 8.3). I have used almost a whole bottle of the stuff over a two week period...

    transplant mushrooms?

Sheree, You can minimize the crabs picking at the super glue by wrapping the rock with netting similar to what is used to make dip nets. I got this from www.garf.org. You keep the netting on until the mushrooms attach to the rock on thier own. You use rubber bands to secure the netting.

    Controling PH

I have the exact same problem. I couldn't get any help on this board on how to remedy the problem. I do know that the Calcium, ALK and PH are related. I use the Seachem buffer also. What I notice is that the ALK goes way high. I think this is the reason I can't keep the PH up. However, I am not...

OT- Wheres a good place to host pictures?

I don't think this will break the rules since SWF.com doesn't host a picture site. Try webshots.com. Moderators, if I have erred I am sorry.

    I can't keep it up.

^bump^ I tested the Alk again and it is up to 16. I am beginning to think that the Seachem Marine buffer is raising the ALK but not the PH. It says that it is for raising and maintaining the PH to 8.3. I am going to do another water change to try and get the ALK down. However, I still need to...

    I can't keep it up.

My PH that is. I have been adding Seachem Marine Buffer everyday for at least two weeks and I can't break the 8.0 barrier. When I did not add the buffer for two days it dropped back to 7.7. Any ideas on why? The only thing that I can think of is not having a agro type substrate. I have sand...

New Test Kits - Please Give Me Input.

It is amazing how much of a difference there is between test kits. I just got my Salifert kits for CA, SI, PH and PO4. I have not had an SI test kit before. When I tested the CA it was 470. Red Sea kit tested 450. Not a bad comparison. When I tested PH it was 7.7. The Tetra Kit I used was 8.0...

    Mixing Lime?

How often do you drip kalk? How much do you drip at a time? What do you use to drip it? Is that all you do to maintain your PH, ALK and CA? Just looking at easier ways to maintain the proper levels in the water. Thanks

    required test kits

I would reccommend one for phosphate, calcium and KH for sure. If you have extra money you might get one for silicate, iodine and oxygen but those are not as important that the other three.
