29g The Not So Nano... Nano

Thank you! I'm a little worried about the monti cap, but that is mostly because I've never kept one and I don't know what healthy looks like.

It's better to replace both at the same time, then you know how long each bulb has been used.

I know what you mean, I try to find ways to talk myself out of getting corals. But I'm so convincing!

So I went to the LFS today. Needless to say I had to write myself an I.O.U. for next months fish budget lol. NEW STUFF!!!! New Zoas on a pretty sweet rock (tons of hitchhikers). An ID would be cool too. Trumpet corals, sorry kind of blurry. And the one I'm pretty excited about: Red monti cap...

That's what I'm thinking. A necessary evil. But maybe this is like weed, a gateway drug. You start dosing for pH, then you get a bottle of purple up, next thing you know you're stuck dosing vitamin C and you alienate all of your fellow reefers trying to score some of the "C" lol.

    Aggressive or not?

I've read that LMB can become territorial. Maybe he thought the gobies and blenny were treading on his turf. Or the hawkfish spooked them and they jumped.

With power compacts, I think it is 6 months. But double check that. Quick google search could help.

    EMERGENCY - 12g sprung a leak!!!

Oh yea, it's only 12 gallons Buy dead sand, there shouldn't be a cycle with it. Just make sure you rinse it really well. When you get more rock, use a tub or bucket or something to cycle the rock separately then you can safely add it to your tank. And you can save the water if you want but it...

    EMERGENCY - 12g sprung a leak!!!

I would definitely go for the finnex, you'll be happier in the long run. Keep the rocks, fish, corals in 5 gallon buckets or whatever 'til the morning. Keep some water in the bottom of the tank for the sand so there won't be too much die off. When you get the tank transfer the sand and fill...

    20 Gallon Long

I'm glad the move went well for you. That can usually be a stressful time. The behavior of clowns are very interesting. I love the hierarchy they establish. How was it bringing in the clowns separate? Was there a lot of fighting? I really want to bring another clown into my tank but I'm...

29g The Not So Nano... Nano

Ya pH dips at night. A fuge light with cheato on a night cycle helps. I test in the middle of the day where the pH should hopefully be at the normal level. I don't like dosing, but I don't like drab corals either lol. Water changes should help but I can't really do any bigger than 10 gallons...

Tested pH again 7.8 So I dosed 2 teaspoons of the superbuffer again. Hopefully that'll do the trick.

    YOTN's 20g Full-on Tank/Sump/Refugium!!!

The display was incredible though SPS everywhere, it was for a desk so little room for the display. Anyway, I made my own overflow box, which was a mistake. Then bought the diamond bit, elbow, and bulkhead from glass-holes.com (<another site if they delete what I wrote). Ya I lost a yellow...

    YOTN's 20g Full-on Tank/Sump/Refugium!!!

I've seen 10g tanks with 10g sumps. Once I saw a pico (forgot what size exactly) with a 20g sump. So sumps on small tanks aren't new. And I tried that pvc overflow, needless to say my tank is drilled now lol. I'm glad you got it to work though, good job.

By the time the water reaches the return pump it should be pretty clean, so I don't see the point.

Updated pics of tank & new frags

no I already have one, I just want to see what others are doing with their 29s. Mine is odd, I picked it up at my lfs. It was one of their display tanks. It is 20x24x12, I think it is perfect for a sump though. No cheato yet but I'll be adding some later.

    25g Angler Tank Build.

That is one sweet set up! And one lucky angler. So how do you plan on stocking the tank? Will it be just your little guy rocks and stuff like the 3 gallon?
