We would like to get a Diamond Goby, a couple of Percula Clownfish(aquacultured), cleaner shrimp, Small Hippo eventually (move to larger tank when bigger). I also like the Pajama Cardinals. My Wife also likes the Coral Beauty
My new 90 gallon is finally cycled. Ammonia=0, Nitrite=0, and Nitrate=10. Now here comes the fun part. Unfortunately I cycled the tank using Damsels (because I didn't use this site then). Now it looks like and got to take all the lr out to catch the Damsels. I tried using food but they just...
I would like to get the Diamond Goby and cleaner Shrimp. I know the Goby cleans the sand, what would be best for the rocks? Someone mentions Nassarius snail do the sand and mexican turbo does the rocks. What should I get and can I add them all at once? Also how much of each? I have a 90 gallon...
Should I get the Clown first (Percula Aquacultured). I also like the Lawnmower Blenny, and a Goby. Once I take back the Damsels, the tank will be totally empty other than the lr and ls.
I would like to get a small Hippo (this site has the 1-2 inch) until I get my bigger tank. Since they are stressed easy, should I make this my first fish in the tank? Will they bother cleaner shrimp, hermits, or snails?
I have just the battery powered one you can buy at Walmart. I lost power for a while with Hurr. Charley, Frances, and Jeannin. The one your showing is the one that will turn on when that power fails automatically?
That tank is beautiful. We just started a 90 gallon and my wife and I will sit in the love seat and watch the Damsels for hours swimming in and out of the rocks. Just waiting for the cycle to finish and then remove the Damsels and make a peaceful tank. Someday I want a 200 gallon reef.
So sorry for your loss. Asking others, I have the small battery powered unit, when you talk about the one that kicks on when the power goes out, is that the one you use for computers (APC) or something special for fish tanks? Paranoid about power failure when not home1
If I got the Hippo, I would get the small one such as the 1 to 2 inch size. Should they be put in the tank first to help prevent getting stressed? I do like the lawnmower Blenny also.
I do plan on having Cleaner Shrimp and clean up crew, so the fish needs to leave them alone. My friend has a small tank with a blue damsel and clownfish and put 10 small hermits in there and now just has the shells. The cleaner shrimp at my lfs is only about an inch to 1 1/2 inches in size. I...
Thanks Brad for all your good information. I will be looking up more on the fish you suggested. I know on this board they always said a Hippo shouldn't be in anything less then a 135. That dissappointed me as it is such a beautiful fish. Then they said in the book how they are prone to ich and...
Also, for a 90 gallon tank what tangs can we get. If we get them when they are very small, how long do we have before we need to upgrade to a larger tank?
Our 90 gallon is getting near the end of cycling. This is our first saltwater tank. We have 65lbs of LR, 40 lbs of Base Rock (Coquina, don't know the spelling), and 100lbs of LS. We do want a reef tank. I will be taking the Damsels out when cycle completed and return to lfs. We want a peaceful...
Also, since it has only been two weeks, I don't have a clean up crew as I thought the tank needs to complete the cycle and be established first. Or should I go out and get some hermits and snails?
My tank was fine yesterday. It is a new 90 gallon tank with 65lb of lr, 40lb of Base rock, and 100lbs of ls. They tested the water yesterday at the lfs and it was
ph= 8.0
Ammonia=.25
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=20
Salinity= 1.023
It was set-up for two weeks now with Damsels to cycle it. Now I have brown...
