my roommate dosed it for me when i was on vacation and caused the calcium to precipitate out. if you use it use caution. it is nice but there are other better products out there if you are willing to spend a little more and use a few different products.

a pump in one of the compartments can be used. if the one end of the sump has a hole, it can use and external pump. my sump is in a rubbermaid container. i elevated it with two bricks, so if it overflows during an outage it stay in the container. best of luck.
