    OT: Grief counseling

Jill - Thanks, it is sad to watch and I've been watching it for several years now. What really hurts more than anything is knowing we aren't supposed to wish a parent to die, yet not wanting them to suffer either - what a catch 22! I wouldn't really say I'm strong. Mom is the strong one, going...

    OT: Grief counseling

Jill I definately understand your feelings. I lost a very special family member (my tabby) and just a few months later lost another very special family member (my burmese). It hit me hard and I really felt lost for awhile. The memories of our good times got me through the loss and I guess...

    Glass or Acrylic?

I've got a 180 and a 250 Acrylic and a 45 Glass. IMO - Acrylic ALL THE WAY! nolofinwe - I'll take the ass chewing because I didn't read anything in his post that states glass is better or worse then acrylic. He makes good points, but I don't see the points being determining factors. Example -...

    tanks with metal halide

Not sure about the watts per gallon using MH's. I have noticed that most of the sharks, etc that are keeping good SPS and clams are using around 7 to 9 watts per gallon including their MH's. Think you would be ok if you used 4 - 110 VHO's. That would put you at 6.9.

It's more the size of your tank. You may not need a chiller, but the glass top can hold the heat more than you think. Try it and watch your temp. I'm using a dual 175W with my 45 and my temp went up 2 degrees in about four hours so I removed the glass top which gave it more ventilation.

Broomer you need to change your user name to RubberMaid!!! :) Think this just gave me a good idea about my FUGE. I can use two Rubbermaid and get twice the room! OT - Broomer what software do you use for your pics?

    Cheapest MH

With the MH and the glass top you WON'T need a heater. You may need a chiller! LOL I wouldn't worry about people out bidding you from here. I won't - promise!! ;) Although I'm still in need of a dual 250W mh and a dual 400W and a dual HQI 400W!! Plus, 4 VHO's. I want just a little bit of...

    new 120 gallon for Christmas

The 10,000 adds more on the blue side of the spetrum and is a more balance bulb. IMO - which is based on limited knowledge - LOL

I took my glass top off because the water temp was raising. I've had water temps that are much more stable without the glass top.

That doesn't look to be a bad deal. I would recommend changing the MH bulbs from 5200k to 10000k which can run another $150 to $180.

How do you frag a coral?

It's not difficult, just a few steps: 1) First take it out of the tank 2) Throw it on the floor swiftly That should do it! Now just glue the pieces on plugs or on your LR. - j/k couldn't resist. :p Here's a good site for fragging information - www.garf.org
