    harlequin tusk question

I just lost mine to ich but he was my favorite fish by far in my short time of saltwater aquariums... He was also in the tank for a few weeks with a rectangular trigger who was very aggressive and the tusk held his own. He would get chased around alittle but would turn and say enough is...

    Noisy overflow

The box on the inside and outside of the tank never fill so I am assuming the 1000+- g/hr pump I have is not keeping up with the overflow. It is quite noisy as the water fills both. Am I just out of adjustment or do I need a larger pump? It is a dual U tube over flow box with two 1" pipes...

    Disaster in progress!!

no offense taken, I am learning so much through all of this. Read here for more information on where I've been with resurrecting this 55G and what I am doing now to make things better for me and the fish. I have learned so much about water quality, crushed coral (ya, it suxs), fish disease, LR/S...

    Disaster in progress!!

duely noted and another water change has been done to lower it to 1.009. I understand that the fish would have to be out for 6 weeks of time either way, just thinking about doubling up the treatments to make sure to get rid of the ich before transfer. The Harlequin died tonight either way...

    Disaster in progress!!

Video of the harlequin tusk. He is still eating alittle but does not look to be fighting as much anymore. The neon goby has been keeping him company and picking off what it can.

    Disaster in progress!!

Water quality is as follows this morning: Temp 78F Ph 8.4 Alk 3.0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 20 Ammonia 0 Sal 1.010 Is 1.010 low enough to be effective for hypo? I think I will be doing copper soon anyways as soon as the test kit comes in. I got the 125G...

What temp do you keep your tank(s) at?

I know there are specialty tanks that need a certain temp, but I am curious what temps people use for standard marine fish? I know the recommended is from 72-78F and I currently keep mine at 78F. Was thinking about getting closer to room temp (75F) to cut down on heating the tank/cooling the room.

    Disaster in progress!!

ok, started the first set of water changes this morning and am lowering the salinity for hypo. Will do in depth testing and post the results this evening. The Harlequin is not doing so well but he will eat when I put silversides on his lips so hopefully he will pull through.

    Disaster in progress!!

sorry if I was unclear above. The powerhead continued to work but the filter did not so I don't believe it is an electical issue. Will have a friend come over and test to make sure. The powerhead in the tank at the time was running a UV filter. I took it out while doing the water changes etc...

    Disaster in progress!!

ok, harlequin still acting sluggish, no interest in snails. He is moving slowly about every so often but sitting still and leaning for the most part. This too shall pass or should I do anything other then monitor the water params? I tested Ph and Alk and the Ph is 8.3 and Alk appears to be on...

    Disaster in progress!!

LoL, will see about that snail. He is looking better but I'm not sure he's out of the woods yet. Was a sinking feeling when I walked in and saw him laying on his side in the corner two days ago. Another reason I can't wait to get him out of the current 55G and into the 125G. Something goes...

    First video of my 125!!!!

Video looks great, when are you planning on adding your other tangs besides the regal? I'm sure they would love it. I'm looking a sailfin as well. Here is my current project. Is your tank the 72" long version of the 125G like mine? I put the rock/sand in the past few days and am waiting on it to...
