    Recommendation on a Protein Skimmer?

Does anyone have a recommendation on the best protein skimmer for a 215 gallon reef tank?

    Protein Skimmer Needed?

I am thinking about getting rid of it. It just sucks to pay that kind of money for a piece of equipment and it does not work properly. I am thinking about just going to the natural method with alot of macro algae in my refugium.

    Protein Skimmer Needed?

I have a 220 super skimmer that I cant get working properly. The collection cup keeps filling up very rapidly and I have the waterflow valve turned down as low as it will go. Is it necessary to have a protein skimmer if I have a refugium with mineral mud and calerpa? Thanks in advance for any...

Yellow tang, Sailfin tang, and Purple tang?

I have heard that you can put similar tangs in a tank as long as you put an odd number. Is this true? Can I have a Purple Tang, Yellow Tang, Sailfin Tang, Atlantic Blue, and Blue Spotted Kole Tang all in the same tank? I have a 215 gallon FOWLR tank, and I am trying to plan out what fish I...

Can you put a yellow eye kole tang and a blue spotted kole tang in the same tank?

I have a 215 gallon FOWLR, and I currently have about ten small damsels, a very small picasso trigger, and a yellow eye kole tang. I also have about 225 lbs of live rock. I want to get a blue spotted kole tang to put in the tank, but was unsure about having 2 kole tangs in the same tank. Do...

New Carnation Anemone hosting my black and white clown :)

Yes, I will try but my camera focuses on the glass of the aquarium and not the objects in it, so I'm still trying to figure out how to get a good picture. I am so amazed by some of the ones these guys on the forums can get. I'll try tonight, so check back with me :) The color hasn't faded in...

White bubbly pods on my liverock?

I have some tunicates, that are a little different but I've read that they are a good hitchhiker, and a good sign that your water quality is good. Not harmful at all.

Plate Coral For A Clownfish Home?

I am by no means an expert, but I have a plate coral and my clown fish don't go near it, and it's kind of finicky so I think even if the clownfish did try to host it, I think it might irritate the coral. I bought it thinking the same thing that you did, that my clownfish might like it but I...

New Carnation Anemone hosting my black and white clown :)

How long would it take before the anemone turns back to it's original color if it is dyed? This anemone is still looking great and eating well, it seems very happy. It has not changed colors. I asked the lfs owner what his supplier said about them, and he assured him that they were not dyed.

    high salinity question..

We just did a water change, and the salinity afterwards is now 1.027. I know that is high, so my question is this, we don't have anymore RO water and can't get any until tomorrow morning. Would it be better to add tap water to reduce the salinity or just wait until tomorrow? How detrimental...

New Carnation Anemone hosting my black and white clown :)

Well it's all new to me. I will keep you posted on how it goes, if you are interested. I certainly am not claiming to be experienced. So far, it's doing wonderful. And we absolutely have the proper lighting. I realize these things have rather slow "metabolisms" and that it may take a while...

New Carnation Anemone hosting my black and white clown :)

Here is another picture. I've heard that they are rare, but are not dyed sebae's. I don't know what to think, but I never would have bought it if I had known it was a dyed anemone. I didn't even know they could do that. I posted on RAG (reef aquarium guide) and the feedback was that it was...

    Hosting Clowns!

It is not a sebae or at least that's what I've been told, although I thought it looked like one as well. I had never heard of a carnation anemone either. I posted on RAG, and the feedback was that it was indeed a rare carnation anemone. I've gone to two of the three pet stores in town, and...

    Hosting Clowns!

Very nice. I thought that clowns who hosted corals would irritate them? I don't know where I've read that, but I thought I did. I guess it depends on the coral. Your frogspawn seems pretty happy. Thanks for sharing! i already posted this once, but here is my black and white clown in my...

New Carnation Anemone hosting my black and white clown :)

We just got this little anemone, called a carnation anemone on Monday. Last night my clown decided to make a home out of it. They look happy together.
