Do you have any suggestions for name brands? If I buy a retro kit will it include all electrical components that I need? Wiring, ballasts, etc? Do the T5's replace the need for atenics? I guess what I'm asking is are T5s atenics? Thanks for your response.

I have 48x24x24 120g tank. I'm going to build a canopy and get rid of the 150s I have now. I have no idea of everything I need, what brands, etc. that I should get. I know I want 2x250s. Should I supplement with T5's? Atenics? Electrical components I need? Ballasts? Bulbs? I have a budget...

I am, but I'm going to 250s and T5s. It's a nice set-up for anybody who doesn't currently have MH. The cheapest I can find these anywhere is the big [hr] site for $649.

I will be replacing my current lights with a custom built canopy after the first of the year. I'm just trying to guage any interest in my current set-up. I should be ready to ship somewhere around the 10th of January. Bulbs were replaced in July '07 with XM 150s. I included pics of my tank...

Is the rock covered with Porites? Most of the ones I see also have porites growing on the rock. If so, I don't believe you have the adequate lighting to maintain the porites. The worms themselves are filter feeders.

My sandbed is 6" to 8". When I set mine up I went to the LFS and bought a bag of "bugs". It was $5 and contained various worms and such...although there was only about 6-8 different worms in the initial bag, there is probably around 30 or more in my tank now. Seems to be working great...
