how quickly can a fish get ich? i saw my hippo yest she was good today i saw some white spots on her... i m thinking its cuz she squizes herself in the rock and migh of gotten a litle sumthing on her... and she loves geting scratched by the shrimp all the time...btw my skimmer is letting some...

i got the bubbles.. but still not much skimmate.. its been like 6 days... its very annoying to get these things to work correctly!

Am i doing something wrong... i c the bubbles coming up... but the foam comes and goes... and barely reaches the top then goes back down.... i barely got any skimmate!! other then the water that rushed up when i was playing with the dial!

they both provide the same result.. with biorings if you choose u can just take a litle bit out and replace at a time.... with the bioballs u just wash it and reuse it... they both pretty much do the same job!

over 48 hrs still no skimmate!!! urgh this is annoying having to wait for this!

wont it still be better then the canister i have? cuz that canister i didnt clean for a while... and i got a nitrate problem now so i cleand it last night and i found the tank so i fuigered i can use it u know!

Chime on friends.... the more help i can get the better... more designs = more choices and who doesnt like that... and i was speakin in general... there were alot of ppl gettin help from signguy so i guess he knows alot about it... but the more help the marrier.... i m trying to build it by sunday!

how is it working out for you... when u removed all the media.. did ir bring ur amonia ans nitrates up?

ive been doing similar research about my canister filter... this is what i learned.... do not remove al the media as it will get rid of the good bacteria that get rid of the nitrates...if that happens its a high rick that your system might crash... what media do you have in the filter rite now...

soo the main pump for the skimmer will be setup in the DT?

i cant c in the picture.. u have the skimmer in the first part ..... so the skimmer is going to be suking in the water from the fuge or from the DT?... cuz the water exiting from the skimmer doesnt have a seprate section....or the skimmer is going to sit out side of the fuge... just a little...

lol this post just answered most of my questions... i love it!!! i will be biting off this idea and designing my 10 gal fuge by this model!! and ofcourse bother you with you a hundred questions about making this possible!

hmmmm is it possible for me to take this small tank and part it in to 2 and keep the skimmer in one part and a refugim in the other... i have a fluval filter too can i incorporate that in to it some how to like use the filters pump to pump the water back?

i am not sure what the difference is between the 2.. still a newbie at this... and what kinda equipment does a sump have to hold... the only think i want out of my DT is the skimmer... nothing else really takes up that much room.. and ofcourse i cant take the PH out

i gotta do urgent water changes today... when i turn the skimmer off. will it take another 24 + hrs to get use to the system again.. cuz it really has'nt started to skim yet.. i c foam but its not rising high enough to fall in to the collection cup!!!
