well originaly i had 10 that were eating by my chocolate chip star... but hes not in there any more i got 10 from which 5 are dead now... so i gues i m left with 5.. i dont c why the hermits would attack em there are plenty of shells there for them to use... and 3 nas snails in a 55... i dont...

something keeps eating my turbos.. every day or 2 i c another snail turned over and missing!!! i got 2 little blu leg hermits and a cleaner shrimp... i cant fuiger out who keeps eating my snails!

Baking soda? u add it in ur topoff water?

From what i think the only difference youw have between real live sand and livesand are the criters in the same... ur sand is live and should be doing its job... u can always get come pod and add them to your tank and get a ceanup crew... you should be fine! correct me if i am wrong!

i will def get number from now on... i let it sit for the night and did the wter change next day so it was about 24 hrs.. all is fine.. every one in tank is happy !!! woohoo... i will do another water change sat or sunday... thanks every 1

ohh i c.. it is prefered but not nessessary.. since i already have a cleanup crew.... and i think i shud just get something that shouldnt cause a spike ... i dont wanna put any stress on the fish!

yeah i m gona do one tonight..... my main Qestion was .... is mixing the salt for 11 hrs enough .. or do i need to let it sit longer before the water is ready for the change... i m use to runing 5 ppm or lower nitrates... i just added 2 fishes and i was feeding more for the past few days thats y...

tank is about 2 yrs old... i got a few fishes in there and a cleanup crew....i ran out of the test so i got it done at the lfs... the only thing high was the nitrate at about 40 he said everything else was normal ( btw i didnt feed the fishes either today becasue the nitrate was geting high) ...

and also my ph is 8.0 i think thats normal rite or is it a little on the higher end?

my nitrate levels were up today up to 40ppm... so i started mixing the saltwater for a water change, its been about 10-11 hrs... u think its ok for me to do the water change now becuase i usualy let it mix for 24 hrs or more!!

so what do u think is the correct way to add live sand with out geting a spike would be ...

they were just dandy... i just added 2 more fishes that made my nitrate go up a little but untill now the nitrates and the flow was perfect.. i m sure i need to clean it and i wil now... and after the water change the nitrates shuld be ok once again!

mines been running for over a yr and a half... and i havent cleand it yet..... bad idea possibly.. but i thought i didnt need to replace anything in there .... was told carbon isnt nessesary for saltwater tanks!

where do i get true live sand from?.... i mean the bag stuff i thohought was good.... and even then it shoudlnt have any spikes in the tank rite?

what if i use the ls that comes in a bag.... ? i used it when i was starting my tank i need to add more so i was wondering the same thing.. it shouldnt hurt anything in the tank. I THINK

yeah when i aded my second perc.. the original one was very aggresive towards it.. but after a day or 2 they calmed down. the new one avoids the old one... i mean there is a peck or 2 when they get near but for the most part they are ok!
