Actually mine grew at a quick rate. It doubled in size over just a few months. It started smaller than a dime and now is bigger than a .50 coin. Ive had it for almost a year now. It all depends on what you consider slow, I have many colonies of sps and those are slow growers...well some of them...

how to frag waving hand xenia

Or if you have a large stalk just take a razor blade to a stalk or depending on how big of a frag you want cut accordingly. Then rubber band it to a rock or stab it through with a needle and fishing line to tie it down. Be careful, xenia smells bad

Ah I did some research and these are in fact young fungia. At a young age it developes on a stalk until it is mature and break off and becomes mobile. The stalk may continue to produce new polyps.

    Do you quarantine your Corals?

No they are good for other coral as well. Most other coral dont carry harmful pest like sps will. The red bugs AEFW and monti eating nudis are very small and some may make it past the dips which is why qting your coral is important. This way after awhile if they survive the dip you can detect...

    Do you quarantine your Corals?

I highly recommend iodine dips for all sps. Red acro bugs, acro eating flat worms, monti eating nudis all are horrible pest and some being very difficult to remove. The best way to battle harmful hitchhikers is prevention.

    Do you quarantine your Corals?

I always try and hope for the best. If you notice that your snails and hermits are missing than its likely a mantis shrimp. I dont hate mantis shrimp but dont want them in my tanks. They are quite interesting when you have them in their own aquarium though.
