    Another DFW tank 200+gallons

Dock, Are you breaking up? I might be interested in the lights, naso and maybe the hood (depending on dimensions and color). I am in Dallas so let me know and I can come by. Actually I was supposed to have done so a while ago, but neither of us were in a huge hurry. Thanks Philip

not rocket science...just want some opinions

sorry it took me a bit of time to respond. I wasn't checking the boards the past few days. I nuked my tank by trying to be creative. I do not have a refugium since it is a FOWLR tank, but I wanted to add one to help control the nitrates. The agressives put out a lot of waste and keep em...

not rocket science...just want some opinions

thanks for the thoughts. I'm not too worried about the aggressives and the corals. Before I nuked my tank I had a V. Lion and a Picasso Trigger in there. I know there is a risk with the others, but this is mostly a FOWLR tank. I don't have the lights for any major corals. If the fish nip at...

not rocket science...just want some opinions

I am at a crossroad as I am starting my tank almost new ( I nuked it a week ago, I'll spare the details). I am trying to decide whether I should go aggressive or community. A few key points. It is a 125 with PC lighting. I am not planning on a reef today, but I have enough LR (130 lbs) to do...

large live rock add - risks?

What are the risks of adding a large amount of live rock to an established tank at one time. I have two fish in my 125 with about 75 pounds of live rock. A local reefer has decided to break down a tank that has been running for a couple of years. I plan on buying enough rock from his tank to...

Avery, I see you are in Lewisville, TX. I live in Dallas. Did you know there is also a local marine aquarium society? I don't know if I am allowed to post the site here because it has an affiliation with some lfs and another big marine board. send me a pm or email if you want to know more...

    Lionfish12

I don't mean to hijack a thread here, but there were no responses so I thought I would try. Markymark - what is your stock list in your 125 aggressive. That is exactly what I am setting up and I am looking for stock ids and bioload possibilities. The age old question - how much is too much.

stock for a 125 - does this work?

Here is what I am looking to do. Just want some opinions on if it is too much or not. Tank is a 125 with a 175 wet/dry and a Nautilus TE in sump skimmer. Right now I only have 70 lbs of live rock which I know is light. I will be adding more little by little to get up to about 150 lbs. So...

    Sand + Anemone

u can try using a clean turkey baster. That is what I use to clean delinquent sand off of my rock. Same concept as pointing the ph, just a little more controlled so it should clean off the sand not add more.

Ever lost a fish, and cant find him???

Well I should clarify. I don't think the snails attacked and brought him under. He had not been looking well. I am guessing that he died and was laying on the sand and they came up and got him. If you just have astreas, its not likely. They stay on the surface. Nassarius snails bury...

Ever lost a fish, and cant find him???

do you have any snails? I have had mine dragged under the sand by a nassarius snail.

    Questions about cureing live rock

the easiest way to tell if the live rock has been cured is by the smell. if it still smells like dead stuff, its not cured yet. if you put uncured live rock into your tank, you will likely cause a cycle as things die off as they inevitably will. if you have any fish in there they will be at...

    cleaner crew time

Ok, I took the plunge and upgraded to a 125. It is the Oceanic Reef Ready and I am very excited. I am cycling now and I know when my cycle finishes I can start adding my cleaner crew. The question is, how big of a crew should I start with? I have seen the recommended size per gallon and the...
