    Yellow Tang with concaved stomach

Clip Nori to the tank always have some for him to graze, and feed more often. I feed 2-3 times a day. I have no water issues, I also know people who feed once a week and the fish like that. I prefer fat and happy fish. Mysis , cyclopeeze, etc. Not just flakes. Not saying that's what you have...

    Halide height

It depends on what your are trying to grow? Light spectrum is very tricky, You will loose 50% of the lights PAR in the 1st 6" of the water column. So if you are hanging them that high and still have to penetrate 18" of water. Very little usuable light spectrum will be left at that depth. Do you...

    MH Light makes temp rise

I deleted that part. Who I am to say that I think you need glass protection over your tank from exploding bulbs by some happenstance. If you don't want to, don't do it. I would never offer that to someone starting this hobby. If others wish to, fine. I personally think that is poor advice, but...

    Tank dilemma!

razor blade always worked for me. How big is the tank? Cause you can pick up used one for nothing. Also the freshwater tank will not be reef ready. You will have to drill it. Todd

    Lighting question

Really it is based on the type of corals and depth of the tank. With a 90G you will need at least 250w MH to get the PAR rating to keep corals alive. Unless you just have them on the very top. That would be boring. I have a 90, I had (2) 150W MH's, it wasn't cutting it. It kept softies alive...

I think I figured out what my "anemones" are

Kill it. you don't want it to spread. Looks like aptasia to me. Only anemone in the tank are the ones we put in there.

    MH Light makes temp rise

Let's get back to the glass shield. You most certainly do need one. Tempered, with UV protection. Which I think tempered gives you. You can not use MH without that. You will burn the corals. Also single ended without glass shield = very bad idea. I am not sure that the glass bulb has UV...

    reusing bioballs in new tank?

Thomas I agree. Now down here in Atlanta, I do not know anyone who has a reef tank that has Bio-balls. We are 300 people strong in our club. In fact I would say the vast majority 90% have fuges. It is only logical. Even with a sump. throw a light on it. throw in rocks, next thing your putting in...

    reusing bioballs in new tank?

I feel you are still resisting throwing the Bio-balls away... Let them go. Trust us they are not needed. Why do you want to constantly clean something that is not needed in a reef tank? Live rock and a refugium is all ya need.

    Snail ID Help!

I checked my books...if it has a long trunk like you state. He could be a cone snail. Very bad and deadly. don't touch him.. do research on it first. hard for me to tell though need a closer picture. The shell doesn't quite match a cone snail. or it's a fighting conch. :notsure: Todd

    Nitrates 80 - 100!!!

Classic problem that some people over look. Clean any sponges in the filter system, Floss, Bio-balls, etc. If he has media bags with carbon, etc. Is that a possibility? Todd

Opinions on care for a torch coral??

I do nothing for it and it keeps growing and budding. It sweepers kill everything around it. I personally hate the thing. I kept it 6 inches away from everything but within a month, that wasn't far enough. If nothing in your tank- ok. It's cool towatch the sweepers looking for stuff. But if you...

    Teach me about clams

I have 10 clams in my 90 gallon. Where to begin. First off the Derasa or the Sqamosa is the best for low level lights. Croceas need butt loads of light so do Giga's and Maxima's. You may have enough light now to keep them but keep them up high on the rocks. Get them a nice flat spot to attach...
