    WTB tank/stand/canopy in MI

As the title says, I am looking for a tank/stand/canopy (if available) in the MI area. I would prefer a 6-ft tank, but would look at anything 90-gal or bigger. I recently moved and am looking to upgrade. Thanks.

175 watt coralvue bulb... anyone know PAR ratings?

Sorry. The front page says there are 660 combinations evaluated. You are correct there are only 6 different combos for 175 watts, but there is data on the 150 Watt Coralvue 20000K bulb.

I am pretty sure this site will have this info. I didn't check on the specific bulb you asked about, but there are many bulb/ballast combos on this site. Illegal Link/

    Help - changing substrate

I recently changed from CC to live sand. I removed parts of the CC over about two weeks and then when it was almost all gone, I put all of my rocks in a trash can with some water from the tank and added the sand. After most of the cloudiness was gone, I put the rocks back in along with some...

Wet/Dry and sump layout. Squidd or others!

I believe the skimmer should be before the fuge. You want the dirtiest water you have to be heading to the skimmer. Could you fit the skimmer in the wet/dry box?

cant decide on a new car???

Don't doubt the minvan until you have traveled in one. They are way more comfortable than a minivan. Of course if you are driving, it doesn't really matter! :cheer: :cheer:

    Salt Creep and Specific Gravity

I agree that salt creep comes from evaporated water, but you replace the water, why not the salt?

The backseat of the camry is as big as the back of an SUV. If you really want room, it is time for the MINIVAN!!!!!

    Salt Creep and Specific Gravity

I have seen several different answers to this. The one that makes the most sense to me is that it should be put back in the tank. It was in the water orginally, why shouldn't it go back in? Of course, I defer to the many people on this board with more experience and knowledge than me.

    uv sterl & setup

A protein skimmer would be more valuable than the UV. cincyreefer is right on for removing the UGF and CC.

    Emperor 400 Filter Problem, help!

Did you fill the filter with water? I usually have to prime the pump after I have removed it for cleaning. Just scoop some water out of the tank and dump it in the filter. Keep adding water until the water you are adding actually starts spinning the Bio-wheels. It should pick-up then.

    hippo and powder blue

I believe you would be better off buying a skimmer before a UV. UV does not destroy ich. It might slow down its spread, but won't stop it. Based on what I have read on this board, 60 gal is not big enough for two tangs and many people would question if it is big enough for even one.

    Sea farm

I'm not sure I actually mentioned a specific site. I have seen other references to that other PET COmpany, some Doctors, nd such and didn't think it would be a problem. I do apologize if I broke the rules.

Couldn't find Southdown at Lowe's or Home Depot

There is a test you can do with vinegar to check for silicas. You add some vinegar to the sand and if it bubbles/dissolves, it is calcium carbonate sand and OK to use. Search this site, there are several threads concerning sand other than Southdown...

I am fairly new to the board, but from what I have read, the coral beauty and flame angelfish will fight each other. Keep an eye on them. It does look like too many fish to me.
