    Buying vs. mixing salt water

Having your own RODI is hands above the best way if your intent on having a decent tank without having to fight nutrient issues and algae etc. The larger the container of salt the cheaper it is per gal to make. Its nice to have the capability to make your own saltwater as sooner or later your...

    Need Help w/ Skimmer Selection

Not overly familiar with a turboflotor, but I hear they are an ok skimmer, but don't take my word on it. Coralife skimmers work and work fine and are not over priced......they also have a one year warranty and great customer service. How much is a replacment pump for a turboflotor cost?

How much light do mushrooms/zoos need?

They should do just fine with that amount of lighting. They can even be placed deeper and still have sufficient light. Shrooms are not very demanding when it ocmes to lighting.

    I got some!!!

The better your waters paramters etc are the faster they start to divide and mulitply. Give em a month or so to really settle in and get used to their environment, than unless you decide to manually cut and divide them, about all you can do is maintain proepr param's and set back and wait. I...

    Mandarin and pods

Buying pods to maintain a mandarin is going to get expensive pretty fast. Setup a tank as others have already suggested with rubble and macro algae add some live sand and wait. Mandarins can eat a bunch of pods in the coarse of a day. Mandarins also eat flat worms. Maybe go to your lfs and see...

Anyone Luck With Plants In Reef Tank?

Gonna be awfully hard to keep sufficient veg matter growoing on any live rock in a tank that has tangs. Best bet is grow calurpea in a fuge or separate tank and harvest it from there and feed to tangs in display tank. Not familiar with shaving brush plants, but I think they are just like any...

    foggy tank =bad for fish?

So when are youo gonna follow advice..whats your water parameters......saying is one thing doing is another. When I started with saltwater there was no such thing as an internet forum, and help was virtually non-existent, except to try and duplicate what a lfs had......which for most was out...

    anybody else have a............?

I have heard of foks using a collander or one of those green fresh small frujit plastic containers like strawberries etc come in to confine a bully fish when they introduce a more meek type fish, so the meek introduction has a chance to get acquainted with the tank territory. Supposedly by...

    foggy tank =bad for fish?

Ya jknow there are folks out there that can take a el cheapo tank, play sand, home made rocks, cobble up a filter system, mix their own salt water, make their stands and hoods etc and have a beautiful setup, one would think a professional did. Then there are those that even with buying...

    foggy tank =bad for fish?

Hey Bruce. thats your opinion and your entitled to it. So do not try and deprive me of my right to believe Bill is an idiot that does not have common sense or the ability to follow directions. He is just a person that goes off half cocked with an atitude and looking for the answer he really...

    20L to 29gal. cycle again?

Your sand bed would becomer populated with stuff off the live rock. A deeper sand bed may be better than a cc bed, but deep beds are not a cureall as they can and will harbor junk like hydrogen sulphides. Unless you have the critters that are capable of keeping a deeper sand bed stirred up I...

    29 gallon Biocube

24 aqua The loss of water is evaporation, and the fans would have an adverse effect on the evaporation rate. Some folks have made the slot wider that allows water entry, not deeper, just wider so more water flows through. Something you should not have to do, if it was designed right from the...

    20L to 29gal. cycle again?

No cycle wil be initiated or at least a cycle that would do any harm if you simply transfer stuff from the 20 to the 29. Now if you let the lr set out for a hour etc yes, it will cause dieoff, but merely moving it over is fine and should not present any problems. The thing I would be concerned...

Thank you cyclops.. I just did not wake up and decide tpo pick on Bill and a few others.........contrary to what they may think, but there is a point in which I loose my ability to try and help anymore when idiots will blatantly play you and others for what its worth. for you acrylic hobbyist

The back panel is still flat and is prone to bowing. Once a joint / seam starts to rip free its all over but the mopping up of the mess. It needs a brace. An arch is stronger with pressure being applied opposite direction than what will be applied to these pieces, once filled with water.
