It doesn't look like that --yet anyway. I don't know what to treat for at this point.. I am feeding mysis soaked in garlic. The other fish are not showing any signs of it yet. BTW: I am so glad I QT fish before I put them in my DT. Makes this situation a lot less stressful.

You can get an overflow box that hangs on the back. It has a syphon tube on it. Then that can go to a sump below the tank

I have the chance to buy one with the temp probe, ph probe and redox probe and 9 switches that you can opperate a phosphate reactor, calcium reactor, chiller, heaters, lights, or anything else with. I think its a steel for 125.00 If you have one is it worth it?

IMO Deep sand bed (DSb)is the way to go. This cultivates Anaerobic bacteria that remove nitrates. You never need or want to syphon it. You just add it to your tank and forget about it. If you add it you want it to be 6" deep to be the most beneficial. I am not sure how much you should add all...

I was the same way then upgraded to a bigger tank WENT TO FAST and lost it all Now I am parinoid to add anything!

Ok I am doing it right this time but Honestly its a struggle! I had my rocks and sand cycling for 6 months in a 260 Gallon. Didn't have to for 6 months but did (was upset over loosing a lot of fish) I set up the QT tank and I am waiting for it to cycle. Almost There! This is like torture for me...

Forgot to say that I would mix it in a tea jar so I wouldn't get the stuff that forms on the bottom or top. I would just use the water in the middle of the jar after it was mixed
