First salt water tank, getting a snowflake moray need advice

Seriously, if you just sit at your computer and research saltwater aquarium basics for a few hours, all of your questions will be answered and you will have a much better understanding of whats really going on in your tank, because you figured it out for yourself. Look at the archive threads and...

    buying a used RO system

you do not need a plumber to install an RO unit.... Unless your planning on pulling the feed from a pipe in the wall behind your tank and routing all sorts of lines and installing an auto top off; that is just ridiculous. Get a "sink diverter valve" and thread it in to your kitchen/preffered...

    Salt! Red Sea Coral Pro?

I swore by Tropic Marin for years, then in October 2010 I bought a bad batch and it really screwed up my tank for a while before I could track down that it was actually my salt mix that was causing the problems. I had used Tropic Marin for so long with such great success, the last thing i...

Hair Algae problem. Need help on solution please

Old bulbs will add to an algae problem. How old are your bulbs? If more than 12 months i would replace them. Check your magnesium levels. I struggled endlessly with hair algae until i started dosing magnesium. *** Now some people may disagree with my next statement but take it as you will*** I...

    Which filter would you choose?

Dont do a wet dry... research nitrate factories because without continuous maintenance that's what a wet/dry will turn in to. Set up a sump (either bought or homemade) that accommodates a refugium with deep sand bed and macro algae, a section for a skimmer and a section for your return pump. Do...

    Need more experienced aquarists advice

Read Read Read and do as much research as you can!! Google is your best friend, this website is a great place for advice but you have to do your homework first. reverse osmosis

dont waste money buying 5 gallon jugs or RO. A unit pays for itself very quickly, especially if your tank evaporates like mine... you will also have drinking water that is better than any britta filter will ever get you.

    Bi-color angel

brine shrimp is not a good food to feed. Angels need sponge and algae in their diet. As far as shrimp go I would recommend PE Mysis, or an all around food like Rods Food. Do some research on Bi-Color Angel dietary needs and check out what your LFS (or this site) has to offer.

Sump or no sump? That is the question.

There is no reason not to have a sump. Deep sand bed/refugium is extremely beneficial. Increased oxygenation of the water flowing and having more surface area air contact Nutrient reduction from macro algae less algae in display tank because it grows in the fuge instead. The list is almost...

    Fishing Suprise!

My neighbor used to use a bow and arrow with a thin, light weight rope attached to it. Kind of like a harpoon. If you stay still enough carp will just slowly swim by eating off the bottom of the lake... He would plant them in his garden for fertilizer. Probably not what you were looking...
