    3 dead fish......

Something hitched a ride on your LR; I would guess the small mantis is munching on your fish. Have you heard any popping noises?

    Salley Lightfoot problem

If you leave the cap on the bottle floats. With it off you can push that end into the sand.

    Salley Lightfoot problem

What worked for us was to cut the bottom out of a soda bottle and lean it against the rocks. Eventually the sally lightfoot went in and couldn't get back out as the sides are slippery. The size bottle would depend on how big yours is. We used a 1 liter, but because of the size of the hole...

Could i have a Hawk fish and a Cleaner Shrimp in a 55gallon tank together?

A fellow reefer had a flame hawk in his tank for several months with a cleaner shrimp. Then one day he came home from work and found only the tentacles from the shrimp haning out of the flame hawk's mouth. As soon as he put another shrimp in, it went after it.

    blue jaw and puff

Blue spotted jawfish are very timid fish; I would not put a puffer in with one. Puffers can be aggressive. Since we got our pair of blue spotted jawfish, we have slowly been getting rid of any fish that stresses them out. So far our cherub angel and foxface rabbit got the boot. We are still...

What color is your pistol shrimp? We have a red one that hasn't paired with any of the watchman gobies (hi fin & wheelers) we put in. Our tiger striped pistol paired with a yellow watchman gobie.

    Harlequin Shrimp Vs Starfish

I think the harlequin shrimp are beautiful; however I would never own one. I can't bring myself to chop a leg off of a live starfish to feed the shrimp.

Anyone have two spot gobies vanish?

I don't have any 2 spot gobies, but I have 2 wheeler's watchman and 2 high fin gobies; they each hid in the rocks right after being put in. One was missing for a month before we saw it again.

How to QT a burrowing fish?? Beth?

We got the spaghetti worms from a fellow reefer, along with other critters. At some reef meetings people brought a cup or 2 of sand; it goes in a bucket and then you scoop out equal to what you brought. The spaghetti worms have multiplied and are all through the DSB. You can see part of them...

Sea apple and Foxface fish 4 reef

We had a foxface in our reef tank until recently. The foxface never bothered any of our corals. Great fish; but ours was such a pig he would rush in and steal the jawfish's food; which would stress out the blue spots. Our foxface ate nori, flake and frozen foods.

How to QT a burrowing fish?? Beth?

We have a pair of blue spotted jawfish in our DSB. They moved around the first month building several burrows until they found a spot they liked. Once they build their permanent burrows, the DSB will be fine. We joked about having a DRB if they didn't settle (deep rubble bed). They do not eat...

My son has his own tank; his flamehawk ate both of his cleaner shrimp. I also heard they are jumpers so be sure your tank is covered.

    Hey Reef Aquaris

The male turns white in the center part of his body when he wants to mate. He looks at the female, opens his mouth wide, then he shoots straight up out of his hole and hovers, then shoots back down to his burrow. When he sticks his head out again, the female slowly comes out of her burrow...

HOW TO CATCH A FISH IN REEF ?????

Our LFS rents fish traps, $3 a week. If you don't want to buy one, ask your LFS if they rent them. You can also make one using a child's terrarium. We made one, but it doesn't work for the larger fish like tangs.

    Blue Spotted Jawfish Behavior

We have a male and a female blue spotjawfish. They moved around the first month building a burrow, staying there for a week, and then moving. They have been in the same spot for a month now, with the exception of the female, she moved her hole 1" closer to the male last week. They come out of...

A Question about my new Lawnmower

We had a lawnmower blenny until he went after the blue spotted jawfish. He would be a lighter color when he was on the sand and turn darker when on the rocks to blend in.
