    Bursa Trigger

Hi everyone, It's been a while since my last post - having been doing much with my tank (been spending way too much time out in natures aquarium) anyway I bought a Bursa Trigger the other day, and had some questions on it, since I haven't read too much on this particular Trigger. The other fish...

Anyone using the Kodak DX6440 Easy Share?

My parents just got one last weekend for our family get together - very impressive camera especially if the price is great (I think they got their's for around 500 with the printer) It is really simple to use, but allows for manual adjustments beyond what you normally see on the digicams. Neat...

    Dead Coral

It sounds like your tank is off to a great start. One thing you may or may not be aware of regarding your scooter blenny is that this fish is also called an ocellated dragonet (same family as a mandarin) and has a very specific diet consisting of sand bed infauna - pods primarily - in as new of...

    Show me your closeup!

Lovethesea - follow up to earlier - I was talking in general terms not you specifically - sorry if you thought I was speaking about just your photos - personally I think your shots look pretty good - Im jealous - I wish I could take pictures as good as you have :) Anyway if you get a chance to...

    Show me your closeup!

Lovethesea- File size limitation on the board - when you reduce the size of the image you reduce the clarity as well.

Dark red algae won't go away.

I used a plastic cooking spoon, I directed a PH towards it so it would lift slightly then use the spoon to get it out, what I couldnt get off I just blasted away with a PH. Suppose you could use a gravel vac, but I would be concerned about disturbing the sand bed. I hate this stuff though - it...

Dark red algae won't go away.

Have you tested for phosphates? How long ago was last light bulb change? When you do a water change are you syphoning off the cyano then adding new water? Also I just learned that some brands of carbon can leak phosphates - so are you running carbon, and if so what brand?

    Please refresh my memory!!

Rule of thumb on the rock is 1.5lbs per gallon. Sand varies depending on what you want to acheive - for a 3-4" DSB in a rectangle tank approx 2lbs per gallon.

    10,000K light over 6700k

Wattage is only one very small piece of adequate reef lighting. 500W NO (Normal Output) lights do not emit enough light to be adequate for anything but mushrooms, zoos, and other low light corals. 500W of MH would be more then enough for just about anything you could want (depending on size...

    Live Rock to Base Rock...

Just curious - I thought pretty much anything porus that was in a tank with LR would become "live" - since live rock is called live rock due to the bacteria growth rather then actual visible livestock. I figured the reason the majority use actual base rock is not because of it's ability to go...

    snail shells

I agree, leave em in the tank, even if the hermits never use them it gives them something to play with - the hermits I have are always moving shells around and carrying them from place to place - don't have the slightest idea why, but they do it.

anyone else having problems with the search tool?

Lovethesea - that person that mentioned that was not someone I think anyone on here would trust - give you a hint his name starts with a [hr] and ends in a fish ;) It's likely vBulletin is just being goofy and their code is jacked up somewhere - wouldn't be the first time :)

Amount of waterflow in 55 gallon

Don't buy those rotating ones - every person I have heard about, talked to, or seen with them has had them break. Great powerheads - Maxi Jet 900's - think they push 230gph great power consumption, very adjustable - I have 2 and an emperor 400 filter(400gph) on my 55, and the water is moving...
