I feel your pain. Stuff like that always happens to me.
I know, right? Ever feel like something just wasn't meant to be? This is the second time the door has taken a 6ft tumble. Ontop of some other problems that I've had with it. ARRRRGH!!

I agree w/ meo, what happened?
And I am sure "why me" wasn't what you said when it happened.
Same thing as before, I had it held up there with some tape, accept I used about 8 pieces this time instead of just 1 piece. I guess the humitidy in the garage just cause the tape to let go. You'd think I would have learned my lesson after the last time but I guess not. Unfortunately the rules of this site won't allow me to repeat what I said when I seen the destruction.

LOL...yeah...probably screamed OUT OMG I'M HAVING A MEOWZER KINDA DAY
lol...it does feel a little bit like a Meozer kind day. I also came home to find my purple fire fish dead. He always hides out in the rocks untill feeding time. I never knew anything was wrong with it. Come to think about it, I remember seeing it alive lastnight but I don't remember it coming out to eat. WHY?
Well, the good news is that the door is fixable. I wasn't sure at first because I had glued the heck out of the crown molding and even added support pieces behind it for further strength that I glued the heck out of as well. Fortunately I was able to chisle everything off without ruining the door. But now I have a dilema.
A while back I made some modifications to the door because I decided to try some different hinges. Well the hinges didn't work they way that I had wanted them to in part because of how the framework on my canopy is made and where the hinges had to attach to. To make a long story short, once the modifications were made I realized I would only ever be able to open the door 90 degrees. This meant that any serious cleaning/maintanance that needed to be done to the tank would have been a pain in the butt to have to lean in and do what I had to do while being crouched over on a ladder without taking the door completely off (which is kind of a pain). I had to hold the door with one hand and unscrew the hinges with the other and not let the door fall. And since I modified the door I couldn't change it back to my origional idea of using a piano hinge that allowed me to open the door all the way up to like 190 degrees and it stayed up on it's own without any addition hardware.
So what would you guys do if you were me?
A.) Spend $35 for a new piece of crown molding and just have to re-stain that one piece and keep the door that I wasn't totally happy with but could live with.
B.) Spend about $100 for all new materials and make the door again the way that I was much happier with and go through all of the extra work of cutting, trimming and restaining?
Anybody wanna buy a used canopy door?
