My wife and i today went to the Shedd Aquarium downtown Chicago and i saw their Ray pond and i want a bigger one and mine isnt even bulit. Not really but theirs was amazing. They had alot of blue dot rays and one fiddler ray which to me looks like a shark ray but still was cool. They breed the blue dots (both kinds) and do it well also i might add and some of them must have been 4' long head to tail, really big for those guys.

I didnt get any pics of the bluedots because they wouldnt allow flashes down there and all i had was my phone. I did get a couple of picks of a cownose ray and some midas cichlids with the huge lumps on there forheads. I will have to see about a cord to upload them. We also took a tour behind the scenes and saw the filtration, labs, quarentene tanks, huge coolers for foods, never saw suck big containers of nightcrawlers, there hospital and even a morg. to see why the fish died. Their skimmers were every bit of 20' tall, some pretty cool stuff.

Nothing much to report but put on first coat of watertite sealer tonight and will do the second coat tomorrow night. Its low odor oil base and it really is low odor. My liner should be here monday so things are moving slowly but surely.

THis is beautiful. I am trying to convince my wife we need to put something like this in our living room as the center piece. She is not anywhere near as excited about this idea as I am.
I will have to wait until she sees the light.

The living room might be a long wait

Drilled my holes for the 2" bulkheads for 20.5 in of water so that will give me right around 800 gallons in the pond, also the liner came in sat. which was a week before they said it would be here, how about them apples. A question for you guys: I want to put something on the plywood before I lay the liner in and was going to use 1/2" styrofoam but can only find 3/4" but there might be something better like a foam rubber or ? what do you guys suggest?

Dont know why my camera all of a sudden is taking dark pics, but anywho put on the outer skin except for a couple of small pieces tonight and will finish up after work tomorrow and paint the out side with something in the green/blue color range then its really liner time.

I need to run my drains around the outside back to my sump which is in the back right corner of the pics and would like to hard pipe it since it's much cheaper than flex pvc but the hard pipe would need to be bent at the 10' radius, anyone out there done this? If not I will just buy the flex pvc unless some one has another idea, feel free to give an idea I wont blast anyone for ideas.

Finished the outer skin and painted it with Behr Premium Plus semi gloss from HD and they call the color aquatic green.

Meeeeeeee tooooooooo !!!!!! And then I can start the waterfall. What have I got my self into again, that might wait awhile so if you all see a 2" pvc pipe coming up and over the back wall it's not for good,
or is it?

That looks like a jacuzzi, very nice...

Where did you learn how to do all of this? It's obvious that you have a little more talent than the average hobbyist and/or do-it-yourselfer...

I guess I learned making curved things working at a stair building company. I was in charge of going out to the houses and tracing out their curved balcony's and landings and then coming back to the shop and making the curved bottom plates and railings , and then I had a cabinet/furniture shop for 10 yrs and it sure helps if you enjoy doing something, you know?
