Yeah - I kinda started a newer one a couple months ago, but they both are kinda stale now. I'll get pics up in the AM.
Glad to hear your orange shoulder & anthia are doing good - Keep an eye on them. Mine's a growin, eats like a hog at the trough.
I found my pendants and a dual 400w ballast on ebay - even came with 2 sets (4total - 2 new) 15k mogul base bulbs......it was a TOTAL STEAL - no other bidders, and his starting price was like 85 dollars, with 40 in shipping. New pendants are like over $125 each so I did well - but I had to wait like a month - 6weeks for a nice set like that to come up for bids - BUT it was sooo worth the wait!
That 2nd skimmer I bought on the bay too, along with the nice korralin calcium reactor with a BIG 25 pound CO2 bottle. These items bought used saved me at least $1000 over new.
Edit - and your right - 40 inch deep tank too deep for 250 watt units for a reef, OK for fowlr

Some updated pictures - No new fish or coral additions or losses. Everybody gets along great and everyones growing, fish & coral. The purple tang & hippo with some HLLE are getting better - likely by the end of the year, they'll be fully healed.

Must be a pain to have to step back 10ft to get an FTS

I always enjoy seeing pics of you tank...question though...
ALK 6 meq/l ???? Thats like a dKH of 16!?! For real??
I've read that alkalinity of more than 4 meq/l can cause RTN.

The Pipe Organ has doubled is size, the Galaxea and green star polyp doing great, and the orange plate coral is out & feeding. (from left to right)
Of course the Navarchus angle is my favorite fish.

2 types of green mushroom, multiplying nicely: (blonde naso is a camrea hog)

The toadstool mushroom, a short polyp goniopora, and red sea fan:

The Sprungs Stunner, a Pagoda plate, and blue enchinopora

Those are last weeks numbers from the log. I did a 60g w/c this morn, and tomorrow morning I take new numbers and fill out the next line.. I just retested alk and it's 5 meq/L. I know that's still hi end, but it should come down. (seachem alk test)

Some tank stats:
All in a days feeding for this tank:
1/2-3/4 sheet of purple nori
2-3 cubes Marine Cusine
2-3 cubes Emerald Entree
4-6 cubes PE mysis
1 cube Ocean Nutrition Formula 2
1 cube Ocean Nutrition VHP
1-2 cubes Ocean Nutrition Angle Formula
A little Rods omnivoir or carnivoir
Tank is fed through out the day, every couple hours.
Reef feeding: (Sat & Wed)

Rods reef blend
Reef Nutrition oyster, phyto, and roti feast
Marine Snow
Frozen Plankton by Ocean Nutrition
1 feeding during lights on and another after lights out.
Light Cycle :
2 each MH 250w 14k ON at 0800
1each MH 250w 20k & 1 400w 20k ON at 0830
2each MH 400w 15k ON at 0930
twin 400w off at 1500
1 250w & 1 400W off at 1800
2 250w of at 1845
Moonlights coincide with lunar cycle.
Refugium Lighting - 2x 55w 6700k flourescent runs 18 hours/day. Truf scrubber running 24/7 on dual 55w flourescent
1/2 HP chiller runs about 6 hours/day, it's 103 outside, and 78 inside. In the winter (can't wait) the chiller won't need to run at all.
Tank consumes around 3800 watts/hour during the day, or about 32 amps. Only 850 watts or 7 amps at nite. Tank adds about $100/month to the electirc bill.

The galaxea grow kinda slow, but those short little tenticals are the newbies. I occasionally use a turkey baster and feed it directly with some rods reef blend or a mix of oyster/phyto/roti feast. I think mine could stand to be a little higher, as they are a high light demand coral, but it's got real nice medium flow where it is, so I leave it for now.....When I get some new dry base rock in, and it cures off a bit - I'd like to move it up a bit.
If yours is not doing well, I'd move it up in the water column a few inches and see if the growth gets better over some time. If by doing this, the polyps seem to be less extended, get it back down, but give it a few days at a higher level to test.

LOL - It does look very suspiscous from the backyard, with the blue glow at night.... I really hope the local PD never mistakes this place for a grow house though - there's a loaded gun in every room in the house (except the bathrooms) and multiple AR15's placed here & there, All kept loaded/chambered with safety on. ANY body kicking in my front door could regret it right quick.
As far as the longnose - this is the 2nd one I've kept in my sw career and he totally ignores everything but the buffet I provide - the first one was the same way too, I think the trick is to keep them fed, and have lots of pods that he can nip/snack on, which he does all day long.

Some New Frags and larger thingys
Just got this morning - 5 new corals, 2 feathers & some things.... Sadly the vendor called last nite and said the 2 specimens I wanted MOST could not ship (some large tabling acroporas - they were 6-8" and really pretty. Still pissed about that)

A very stunning chunk of Merulina Coral (Merulina ampliata) The little green eyes are VERY bright/florescent lime color and a stunning piece of sps - measures 6"x6"x4" (aka ruffled ridge coral)

A very large chunk of Green Eyed Cup (Mycedium sp.) 8" x 5"

A small plate coral - Blue with a green center 2" (Fungia sp.)

A frag of Red War coral (favites pentagona)

A LARGE Purple Plate coral with bright green tentacils (Fungia sp.) 6 inches diameter

This stuff is all in the 90g coral qtine tank, and will be there for a good month before I can move them over to the 475g.
