Well, I just got back from a pet store. I got a gbta, some nass. snails, and a beautiful yellow scroll coral. They are acclimating now. Pics later. :)

Hard to get a decent shot. He is so little right now, but is starting to expand more. The scroll coral will go into QT because I found a flatworm!! currently giving it a fl. exit bath lol. It sure is a beautiful coral though, the polyps are bright yellow.

Here is a better pic of the scroll coral. Look at those polyps! I think it needed the treatment LOL. It is saying thank you...

Actually, it is a fairly large piece. Fragging would be easy! Once it's ready to go into my tank, I will frag it. :)

That is a neat looking coral - never seen one of those. Looks like it will be a beautiful addition to that amazing tank you have.

Thanks Al. It's an sps. A turbinaria species. I believe it's also known as a cup coral, pagoda, vase, turban, or bowl coral. Can't wait to add it, but it will go thru a strict QT process since I found a flatworm.

Thanks Henry. It seems to have changed it's growth pattern more than once. Also, I found what appears to be a small amount of blue sponge growing on the bottom of the rock that it's on. It's doing good this am, polyps are out. The little gbta has moved itself into a crevice just a tiny bit above where I put it, and it looks good. I think it is just a baby.

Ok, I have a question. How long will I have to keep this coral under close scrutiny before I will know whether all flatworms are gone? I am talking about any possible eggs. Right now there is no live worms in the little qt. I let it set for 24hrs in flatworm exit, and that seemed to do the job. I am thinking two weeks? Unsure of the life cycle of flatworms. and my online searches are not precise. Anyone??

Never mind. I finally found it. If there are any eggs, which I don't see btw, they will hatch within a 15 day span, and supposedly if unable to feed, will die after 5 days.

What kind of flatworm did you find? (description)
I actually found about 5. they were a dark brown/burgundy in color. Biggest ones I have ever seen. They came right off during the flatworm exit treatment without much help. But I did blast it with a syringe in every little nook and crannie. Then I placed the coral in a little 2.5g QT with flatworm exit treatment overnight. Didn't see any in the tank after mult. blasts with a turkey baster,so i did a 50% water change. And I can't see any eggs with a mag. glass, but I am not taking any chances. I really like this coral, or I would of just taken it back to the store!! So, I am willing to go thru all of this LOL.

Oh hey guys, I forgot to update about the algae. On 10-12 I removed several pieces of rock that definitely had dino on it, scrubbed it and let it soak in a hyd. peroxide bath. Well, as of today, there is no sign of it returning! Knock on Wood LOL. So far that worked well, and I have not seen any bad effects on the treated pieces of rock. The hairy mat of algae that was covering my sand is gone, and it seems I am left with a rusty colored diatom bloom from the new sand that I had put in. So, we will see. I think that I will dose algaefix weekly from here on out.

Well, tank looks good today. Still no signs of the "hairy mat algae". This concludes my algaefix trial, and I give it an A+.
