Thank You Sip. I feel like your my personal cheering squad!! LOL. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I found one more blue legged hermit at the lfs today. I grabbed him up and put him into the tank. He is munching away on a rock. So that brings the count up to 5 lol. Seth with love that!! ;)

Ok, gonna turn the lights off for a couple days, only on for feeding when I get home from work. I will be changing out the last section of sand friday, changing all filter media and all t5's. Will update about the progress of the algae then. Nova, cheerleading try-outs will be delayed!!

It wouldn't be a bad idea to cover the tank completely with a dark sheet to prevent any external light from spoiling your plan...
Yeah, I probably will. I hate stressing my fish like this....but....the alternative is worse....

Thanks Sip! Well, got home from work, fed the fish, and turned the lights back out. I did turn on the fuge lights though. I really need to get that chaeto growing lol. Some of it is turning pale. Maybe I gave it too much light too quick after I received it, or just from shipping over 2 days. Also, I looked online at dino pics on the sand, and a couple looked like mine, but they were not definitively ID'd as dinos. I did a small water change tonight to help. Getting all my deliveries by monday. Corals still look good, gaining their color back. So, the battle continues....for now....

Thanks Krista. I just might need to do that. I got home from work, and repeated what I did last night. Some more chaeto is pale. I am gonna remove it. Will test my nitrates later. The algae on the rocks looks like it is disappearing, but not off the sand. It remains the same. But, I can suction off the top layer on that side when i change out the third and final section friday. I can say that my corals are still gaining color though. All the polyps and monti's are looking good now. So, that is a plus. Also, got the new t5 replacement bulbs today. Will put them in tomorrow after work. :)

No, it looks like a dusting, and if left alone gets darker and thicker, sometimes with bubbles in it. Although since I changed out the sand, it does not appear to be getting worse...yet. If you look with a mag. glass though, in some places it looks like little hairs sticking up out of the sand. So, I usually suction it out. I am hoping its not dinos, although it prob. is.

So, I asked some people more knowledgeable than I about dino,... and they still haven't told me anything different then what I have suggested to you already.... Sorry luv.

It's ok. thanks for asking around though. I am trying.....just getting tired of it and even though I know my problem is not as severe as other cases out there, I still think tearing it down and starting over is the answer....but we will see.

Have you tried limpits?? I know they can eat them off of the sand (sometimes off of the glass)....

Post a few FTS! I haven't seen your reef in awhile. I bet some things are taking off, even though there is dino.
Yes, things are coloring back up nicely. FTS later on for sure..

I actually have lots of limpets in my system. I had posted a pic of a big one somewhere in this thread a long time ago. They may be helping and I dont even realize it. ;)

Well, changed out the t5's last night. I will run them normally today. Also, time to change out the third section of sand. Nitrates are still 15-20. My skimmer is pulling out nice dark junk. My other orders will not be here until tomorrow and monday. Geesh, they are slow sometimes. Either that or I am just impatient!! Been thinking about adding Koralia nano pumps in the back in between the islands facing forward to get some extra flow in there. Nothing strong, just nano sized would be good. And I am looking at the apollo leds. I am really considering them for this tank. Even if I tear it down, I will clean it and immediately set it back up. Anyway, today is gonna be a busy day for me lol.

Ok, just got back from the store. I found some nori. It just says roasted seaweed. It is the yamamotoyama brand. It doesnt say its flavored or anything. Could this be safe to use then? I guess it is from what i have read. I just put some in, and the tangs are all over it lol.
