LOL.....I know...I am having a few issues ATM...and I also hate chemical stuff....BUT
OK...I think I am gonna use red slime remover or chemi-clean on the 225G
ARE YOU SAYING that the product you are using eradictaes DINO?????
From other people's experience, some have had good results on the dino and others have not. I am gonna say minimal results on the slimy dino that I have, but it seems to be working on the orange (a diff. kind I have read about). After manually removing both, I have noticed that it is not growing back as bad as it was. This am I glanced at one piece of rock that had hair algae on it, and it is almost gone. And one rock that was covered in orange algae, ? form of dino is gone. If this doesnt get rid of the slimy dino that I have, I am gonna remove the rock and use the peroxide treatment on it. Oh, and I have not used anything other than chemiclean before, so I cant give any results on any other slime remover.

Hey Meowzer. Sorry for the late reply, I just got home from work. What stuff are you referring to specifically? Neither chemi clean(in the past) nor this current algae treatment has affected any of my inverts. I thought that it would atleast cause my anemone to react, but it never did. I think that I might have to deal with the dino in a different way, because I am not seeing much impact on it. (just got done inspecting the tank tonight. and no real difference from this am in the dino).

Tell ya what guys, my tank is sparkling LOL. My glass hasn't ever been this clean, and the sand bed is looking good. I really need to post pics. I will try to today, my main computer is down and I am currently on my laptop so I will have to put the pics on it. I am really impressed by this stuff. Where I manually removed the algae, it has not returned and is showing no signs of returning. Still no negative reports to share. I am gonna take the rock with the dino on it today out, and scrub it to death LOL. Pic later :)

OK, first pic is to show the sandbed before treatment, you can see the crap I was dealing with for months now. Second pic is after only one dose of algaefix marine. Can you see why I am impressed so far?

No, no other chemicals at present. But when I am done with it, I am gonna treat once with chemiclean just to make sure none of my id's are wrong and i happen to have some. Here is a pic from today at the same angle as the second pic above. I have only done two doses of algaefix marine so far, and from what i have read, people tend to see better results at the 6-7th dose. And I guess I should say that I am in no way promoting the use of any chemical or even this product in a reef tank, but it was something I was willing to try, and I think that if all other means of removal has not worked, this would be a last resort. There is reports of losses with the use of this, but with anything else, there are also success stories. I really wanted to share my experience with it, with all of you.

Thank you for sharing.....I have always been against using chemicals too...BUT sometimes I think we need to....AS LONG as the directions are followed I am sure they are ok :)
IDK which to use first......the chemi clean or the algaefix....Maybe I'll see which one gets here first LOL
ANY recommendations???

Your welcome. Well, if your problem is cyano, use the chemiclean for sure. And If you are interested in some results of the algaefix marine, go to reef central. there is a 70 + page thread on peoples experiences with it.Some are good, some are bad, and some had no results with it. the thread has some good info on the different types of cyano too (like the one that can look like our average hair algae). Long read.....but good read.

Still playing with the new camera. Some shots I take are almost perfect, but have a hint of blur to them?? And some are not sharp at all. I really need a macro lens. Unsure what I am doing wrong, but I will keep trying. Here are a few that didn't turn out too bad. Comments good or bad are welcome. Enjoy!

Well, this stuff does not affect dino. Atleast what I have. So, I removed about 5 rocks out of the tank scrubbed them really well and soaked them in peroxide for about 5 minutes, rinsed and put them back in tank.
Note to self and anyone else, skimmers do not like it LOL. Might as well do some reaquascaping now...........why not....

Reaquascape? Why not? Well, I'll tell ya why,
I now have an extra frag of setosa, monti cap, and hammer. I barely touched the rock that the hammer was in, and it literally split off. I just put it back beside the other. OH well. I did add some rock to the left side, looks different, no cave anymore. Anyways, time to order new coral. Gonna go looking for something nice.

I need a jaw dropping smiley. The tank looks great. I hope my tank can at least be 1/8 as beautiful as yours.
