Lol. You're past the point of no return from the hobby now.
Don't rush things. That would be the worse thing you could do.
Also, do you have a quarantine tank set up?

By no means am I telling you to rush...it has been almost a month now, and I do not see how taking a sample to the lfs will hurt...(lucky you have one :) )

Good luck on getting enough people to agree on the water change thing! I would say wait it out. You could cycle for much longer. As long as you dont get a real high ammonia spike I would stay away from a water change. Now I should keep my mouth shut but hey I aint gonna.

wow, i have alot to respond to. i will wait out the wc, my hubby just tested the ammonia and it read 0. its weird cause i could have sworn it read higher. any thoughts on why that occured? thanks for all the replies

Human error


SW is tricky business.....you have to be really careful with the tests...
what tests are you using?

I would also make the suggestion that once your parameters hit 0 that you wait an additional week and see if you get consistent results . Glad to see that things are getting there.

great minds think alike cause i was planning that already. i am still having lfs test a sample . what is best test kit available? i am using API

I have api for the basics....have worked well for me....I have salifert for calcium and alk...
DON'T BUY RED SEA LOL...I am 50/50 with them I'd rather be 100%

j have not heard good reviews on red sea. i also want to be 100%

i tested ammonia and it came out to 0 again today. i also tested nitrites, read at 0.25. finally moving forward it seems.
