Lol, I don't know 16? hahahaha.
Majority of my fish minus the tangs are very small that's how I'm able to get away with it. Also I replace carbon once a month to counter it as well as big water changes plus chaeto, plus de-nititrator and extra gfo lol.
also reduce the number on the barnacle blennie and let's convince Michelle on the jewel damsel. Those suckers well... they will make you bleed in the end and sounds like pretty good for your tank. Maybe 1 or 2 more fish bahahahaha.

I'm going for small as well, which is partly why I nixed the male Leopard wrasse. I saw one yesterday; he was beautiful but VERY big! There's only one large fish I intend to keep, and that's the PBT. Everyone else is smallish.
My biopellet reactor is running, and although I haven't plugged it in, the GFO reactor is set up and ready to go.
So...you think I should cut down on the barnacle blennies? Maybe I should just do 2 Barnacles and one pipe. The cool thing about the pipefish is I don't really have to QT....they are not normal ich carriers. I'll probably keep him in quarantine for a couple weeks max, fatten him up on the copious pods in the 20g tank, then let him go to town in the big tank.
I was very happy to see the Mystery Wrasse out and about this morning with the AM feeding. Looks like he's getting along fine with the Anthias.

Yea also with those leopard wrasse, be sure to glue down your corals real tight because they will bite it try to flip it. It's a big hassle and not many of the corals will make it.
well trying to make sure that you and the michelle get more fish to your likings because you guys will always want new fish and this will make room lol. Just be sure as we discussed that pbt becomes the last fish because man those are some mean fish..

I took this from Georgia aquarium that made me get one but ohhh boy...
BTW, purple cap that I gave you is called Idaho grape monti cap. I forgot about it but I found out again couple of days ago. I thought you may want to know for future reference. ;)

Oh yes, the PBT is certainly going to be the last fish in the tank. I'm still trying to lock down the fish list and shrink it...IMO it's ridiculous, and more representative of a wish list rather than an actual stock list.
The Barnacles can be cut out pretty easily. They can also be added to another tank if I feel some overwhelming desire to keep them.
The pipefish can be reduced to a single specimen. This will also be that "small, cryptic fish" I was talking about keeping.
The damsel might be able to be shifted to the 20g tank if I keep putting that fish off.

The Fathead Anthias might be cut from the list if the Sapphire can't.
Just cutting out the barnacles, reducing the pipefish, and axeing the damsel will drop me down to 15 animals. More manageable, but still pretty heavy on the stock in my estimation. Wife wants to see "lots of colors flashing" but I think she'll still be pretty pleased with this.

Lol, that number is definitely do-able in your tank.
You do have WAY more water moving in your tank after all right? I think it's partially my fault for showing off my heavy traffic tank.
yea just have alots of color and it will really liven up the tank and that was my aim.

Here is my total water system and flow:
110g tank with, a 29g sump (moving about 18g actual water), total actual volume of tank and sump is 100 gallons, with a 1000gph return pump pushing a true 600gph (the RR overflow only allows ~600gph through the drain remember), and 4 Koralia pumps on a wavermaker pump moving 2150gph at any given time. Should be a decent flow for most coral. It was a bear trying to get this setup so it didn't blow the sand around. As it happens, the places that have had sand blow out.....are actually the "dead zones" behind the rockwork, which is great for me. I don't mind there being a bare bottom back there; I can't see it anyway and it helps keep detritus away from those spots.

Well I have a Rainford's Goby in the 20g QT right now...which means of course that ALL the difficult-to-find fish I've been keeping an eye out for will show up this week, right?

I have my LFS guy ordering a Potter's Angel this week. He's got the store that usually only gets bread-and-butter fish in stock, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt this time. I also have my not-so-LFS guy looking for another female Leopard Wrasse. And I believe that SOMEbody may have a McCosker's for me at some point this week....

So, since I have people looking for three fish, only 2 QTs available, and short on funds to boot...I almost guarantee I'll see all three before this week is out. Heh...
On another note...the Mystery is still fine. He's settled right in.

I got him for a pretty good price from the LFS. I'd call him an educated impulse buy....I wasn't planning on getting one but I knew the risks involved and had planned to have this fish in with the horses eventually anyway. He's pretty happy in his QT right now.
It's a catch-22. I'm sure I could have found one for less, but....I also do like supporting my LFS when I can. Too often I wind up just buying basic necessities from them, since as I say they are usually just a bread-and-butter style fish store. I'm glad I was able to pick this guy up from them.
Still haven't sold the lathe. Sigh.

True about lfs. Its just that I hate the way a lot of lfs keep their fish here because most of them just care about just moving them.
:flame: sorry about lathe..
I hope my mystery won't tare up the tank. Please observe yours and let me know the pros and cons.
Is it a sand burrower?

Aww man, I hate you haven't sold that lathe yet. I bet your wife is ready for it to go too...
Glad though that you were able to buy a few things for your tank after that massive 2k hit on your finances. Glad things are looking up.

Well, things are looking "even." Basically I'm spending my Holiday money on the aquarium, but you know....it's what I would have wanted as a gift anyway. So it works out in the end.But yeah, I would very much like to get this lathe out of my downstairs porch. It's a bear. I even looked into just recycling it for the price of the steel, until I found out that metal recyclers around me are buying steel for $9.00 per 100 lbs.

Yeah, if I were you I would try to sell it as a lathe first, steel second. LOL
You'll get it sold - but it might not be for the price you want it.
I'd buy it but going to pick it up would suck.

You know, if I had replied to this while I was working today, I would have said, "He's an angel, doesn't bother anyone or anything."
But you know what? I just got home. Poured a nice glass of iced tea, sat back in my spot, and watched the tank. And......something was missing. It took me a moment to figure it out.....the Blue Reef Chromis is AWOL. I don't know if he's just chillin' in one of the PVC tubes, or if he jumped into the overflow, or if he's dead, but...he's almost always out in front, and he's nowhere to be found right now.
I have no idea if the Wrasse had anything to do with the Chromis' disappearance. He's not aggressive that I've seen....and I would think the anthias might be the culprits more than the wrasse. But it's just something to keep in the back of your head. I'll post if the Chromis turns up.
As for general behaviour, the Wrasse has been a model citizen. No aggression that I've observed, and no he doesn't burrow...he just hangs out near the bottom tier of the tank, making his rounds and picking at the rock. I've not seen him even LOOK at a coral.
Weird about the chromis.....
