Ok then let me try and answer your question for you then.As to the(Grass Clipping Union?) We would have to find out the Prevailing wage as set forth by the Government and since as far as i know there is no (GCU) i couldn't give you that answer without doing some research which i am not going to do.
I don't think many electronic components built it the USA that are TVs.I think Asia has that covered. But if they are built here and are built in a union shop the workers don't set the price of the product, and since there is a good possibility that there are also NON-union shops building the same TVs i would guess that the non -union TVs are way over priced, that is if they are making less than the union workers. I would think that if its non union and getting built cheaper it should cost less?NO?
I have never cut lawn for a living nor have i ever paid someone to cut my lawn so i cant give you a estimate. If your asking me what pay i think is fair come over with your lawn mower and ill make you and offer,we can negotiate after that.

Thanks for solidifying my stance against unions......can't even answer a simple question without creating red tape and hops to jump through...Unions suck, end of story. I officially change my belief they can do even a little good. They are worthless and overpaid.

Your entitled to feel anyway you like .Your asked me questions i cant answer for you .If you want to ask me how much i would charge you to build your home i could answer it.You have the freedom to purchase non-Union made Items if you like. Most likely they will say "Made in Mexico,China,Tiawan ...."Go ahead ,its your choice to make. But next time your power goes out or you gas is interrupted, a watermain breaks,Your house is on fire, someone stole your car....Be sure and tell them they suck and are worthless and overpaid.

Uhh... bad example. The manager I'm working for has been with my company for 13 years, and almost as many company names, most of which you'd recognize. The Defense industry is an inbred mess of interlocking components who get bought and sold on a yearly basis.
Small world, I work for a heavy equipment manufacturer for the military (aircraft loaders).
Maybe that figurative Boeing engineer could just be working on the commerical side?

There are a lot of people out there non-union that have insurance... Just because Unions force companies to provide it for their employees does not mean they are justified.

That's a two edged sword Veni.. Why is it that so much of those industries have moved overseas?
BTW, looking forward to having you in Texas. Always good to see a Texan come back home.

You can't answer what you would be willing to pay to have someone mow your lawn? That is pathetic. I asked my wife..ex-union employee. She didn't have to ponder it. She didn't have ask size of lawn and such. She immediately said the job is worth 10 an hour. simple. But you couldn't answer that. Because you didn't want to answer....because then it would prove the AWU is getting to high of a wage for the lawn maintenance crew...
Gas, electricity, and water I pay for. If it is interrupted, it better be fixed as I pay for it.
My house is on fire, the fire dept. better come put it out, as my taxes help pay their wages. And if someone steals my car, I won't get it back in one piece anyway...this is what the insurance I pay for covers.
some people are paid what they are worth. But when YOU as a person in society can not answer a simple question of what a job is worth to you, that shows me you don't value the work being done, but you value a minimum pay regardless of the level of work.
Every job I have ever had since I was 18 offered insurance....union did not make them as 90% of those jobs were non union.
@fishmaster, the lawn question was an easy thing for someone to answer...as most people have mowed and taken car of a lawn at some point. And naturally you haven't answered the question either....simple question. How much per how is lawn maintenance worth? You are going to be starting a company..you need to think of these things...

I was thinking the exact same thing...

He is good at saying. "That isn't my job I'm not going to do it."

They are overpaid. I can tell you ALL kinds of cop stories. I think for the most part they are lazy too. Hence why I am such a big supporter of carrying rights.

Thats easy, its cheaper. Its even cheaper than non-union labor. It may also have something to do with taxes and regulations as well .

My Dad And Uncle are both carpenters ,My Dad closed down his business years ago and retired when building construction went belly up.But my Uncle is doing well as a trim carpenter owner/ operator and has a job waiting for me if i want it.I have quite a bit of family there as well as here .

The AWU/Australian Workers Union ..What do they have to do with anything we are talking about. How would me not answering your question to YOUR satisfaction prove anything? And i gave you my reason, maybe not the answer you wanted but,its my reason why.

Maybe its in the middle of the night, cold, and raining and they dont feel like it,and if they cant be fired why should they? *Sigh*
Yet you think they are worthless and lazy.

Well then maybe when someone robs you and beats you to with in a second of your life your insurance will help you out there too

Your thought process is baffling to me.

Again ,I'm happy for you and it proves a point that Unions don't control every profession completely and that people have a option to choose where they work and who they work for.

And how would the police fix this situation? If I am in a position for this to happen, the police aren't much help until AFTER the fact. I still am beaten and hospitalized minus my possessions. Thus conceal and carry is a great thing.
Should the military go union?

Not now now, but a few years ago it was. wages always trail Cost of living. Plus we have a lot of national labs and government funded things that raise our cost of living index immensely thus squewing the cost of living a bit.
