i agree with boomer about what the UV light does, but I would say that if your tank is newly established a UV is a good addition...I used mine on my 29g for the first 6 months only...I am now getting one for my 60g since I have a huge algea problem...

my tang is much better today...it ate flake and seaweed soaked in garlic for the third day straight...and its comming out more and swimming the length of the tank darting in and out of the rockwork

i run it for a few days once a month....people have told me that it takes out trace elements...I dont know however...

I use the garlic extract they sell at the lfs...its expensive but it works great...you can use regular garlic: crush it and soak the food in it...

I respectfully dissent...I would not bath in the same water everyday; so, i change at least 5% of the water once a month...I honestly think it replaces trace elements that are essential for a reef tank with corals...its probably good for the fish too...this may sound like a general explanation...

Sorry to hear about that.... Your tank will likely have to cycle all over again...especially if that tang was in there for a while dead...I would wait for the cycle to complete all over again...do 5%water change everyother day until the cycle is over... dont get those frags though...my 2 cents
