    Refractometer

I have wondered if 1.020 is ok. I run a fish only tank. Should a FO tank SG be higher? But using the refractometer just makes more sense and is actually easier as well as more accurate.

    Refractometer

:happyfish I know this subject has been addressed many times, but here is another reason to invest in a refractometer. I just received my refractometer, (from satlwaterfish.com). The plastic hydrometer I had been using read 1.018 s.g. The refractometer reads 1.020 s.g. Enuf said!

    Death of a Clownfish

I had a similar problem, but fish didn't die off that quickly. I am now into my 2nd week of running my tank with no life in it to kill whatever was in the tank. I am being patient and giving it 6 weeks before adding fish again. in the mean time, I am getting a QT ready.

    Suggestions, please.

This probably belongs in in the disease section, but I figure this forum gets the first visit. I have a fish only tank that has been up and running since June. It succesfully cycled by the end of July. Fish stayed healthy and happy until October. I added another fish at that point and roughly a...

    Something Is Not Right!

First check the SG. High salt could be a culprit! How long are you running the light?

    warming change water

I would just go for a the cheapest heater you can get. You don't need the same wattage that would be used in the tank. It's only for a smaller volume of water.

How do you feed your fish?

No need to. Fish will get those flakes or other food no matter how fast its moving!

    Clownfish!!

I had a similar situation. I first had a tomato clown about 2 inches. Later on I brought in a smaller percula clown. The tomato clown nudged him a few times especially during feeding. Now, he ignores him. Give it a little time and watch them closely!
