How do you get it down?

Sounds like you're still cycling. Have you tested the water regularly? This may or may not be the ammonia spike that normally would occur. Hold off on any water change for the time being

How do you get it down?

Do a water change. Do not overfeed. On your nitrates, you say the reading is 5.0. I assume you mean 5ppm which is not a problem whatsoever.

Square 37 Gallon Tank -- Need feedback

The several times over many years that I have cycled tanks, I tried keeping the Damsels. As soon as I stocked with other fish, the Damsels caused too much stress in the tank. They are just too territorial and aggressive. They don't fear many fish, regardless of size. Stress can cause ICH.

Square 37 Gallon Tank -- Need feedback

I have the 37g SW. I don't find it too difficult to get at the bottom. It is a perfect tank if you build up the middle with rock/reef towards the top. so the fish swim in and around.

    cycling tank, check levels?

You should be checking frequently the ammonia and nitrite levels to see if they "spike." This is the part of the cycle and you need that rise in those levels and then see them drop along with nitrates. If you rarely check them, it is possible that they never rose and the tank would not have cycled.
