I keep my 55 gal lights on about 12 hrs a day. actinic's on for 15 mins before turned on and after turned on.

IF it's a brand new skimmer you can turn it on now, I know mine took about 10 days to start skimming.

How long have you had it? How many times have you used it? Has the water tested up to par? I'm thinking of getting one myself...

That should be just fine. I have seen people encourage 1000 GPH in a 55 so, that should be fine.

Usually 10x the gallons of your tank, so 550 GPH should be adequate. I just got 3 maxi jet 900s (230 GPH) off ---- for around $50. The maxi jet powerheads seem to be well liked, and I have not had any problems.

I had a pixy with a sixline, firefish, and yellow tang awhile back. He didnt mess with anyone...

Could be the final form of Nitrate, being released as nitrogen gas.

So if I were to order two maroons, would they be compatible or would they fight? Or would it just be luck?
