WOOHOO, top off for my top off

oh that's interesting.. so you just figure out how often it needs to open and set the timer? So water goes through it to the ro/di then to the tank?

    Which power heads to use?

ok that's cool.. I like the idea of alot of water circulation anyways. Sorry for being unclear on the question.. I plan to use them just to move around the water in the main tank. I'm going to have some sort of sump, still unsure on it, and HOB overflow. In the sump I'll have protein skimmer...

    Which power heads to use?

would two maxijet ph1200s be enough for a 75gallon? what's the deal with the "ph" added to the 1200?? is that normal? I finally got my grant money in... time to set this baby up!! But I'm gonna try to do it right the first time.. hence all the questions! I take everything that I read to here...

    180 not drilled

Ok so if I did happen to get the CS100 rated at 800gph, what powerhead would you recommend for the return? I'm pretty set on the mag drives, have heard soo much good about them. I don't want to have to set back the pump rate very much so that it isn't a strain on the pump, know what I mean...

    sump, now or later?

I'm wondering if I should go ahead and setup and do all the plumbing and rigging for my sump now when I am initially setting up the tank (when I may not be able to afford it right now) or can I do it later once the tank has cycled and I only have ls and lv? I'm gonna have to use a HOB overflow...

    DIY fuge???

so CPRs are good overflows?? I'm looking around for a good fail-safe overflow so I can rig up my sump. I dunno if I wanna buy a seperate powerhead just to keep the siphon going on the overflow? Does it actually pump the water from the overflow box to the sump, instead of gravity? I'm trying to...

    DIY fuge???

well for people like me, the power doesn't usually go out for any longer than a minute or two.. so pc backup would be ok.. how do you get the siphon started on the HOB with a U tube? And I dunno if I'm missing something.. but if the HOB only goes a little ways down into the tank, wouldn't the...

    Vho

For my 75g I plan to get two Workhorse7 ballasts off ----, $40/each, and then four 4' 110w VHO bulbs (2 50/50, 2 super actinic) off of prem aquatics.... or maybe 'rine depot. Get the endcaps, one pair for each bulb, make sure they are waterproof. German endcaps are the most used for waterproof I...

    good price

I'm not sure if it is completely an aesthetic issue.. an open gap could let almost anything into the tank.. and anything out. I'm not sure if that is a good idea man.. but I know what you mean about being in college and nothing matching.. I'm in the same situation  maybe it wouldn't...

HELP! I think I just fried my ballast!

I've heard good things about the Workhorse7, can get them cheap off of ----.. but since you don't have lights now, and probalby need them now.. might have to buy local. I'm not sure in that case... maybe someone else good luck and watch that water splatter! cordell

Yet another LR and lighting Question

these don't say PAR, or true actinic, or 03.. are they not true spectrum actinics? http://***********.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=UF3465 Would a combination of two of those with two of their Actinic White 50/50 be sufficient for a 75g? I see that the 50/50 does have actinic 03. thx

    powerhead and RO/DI

ah sorry for being confusing.. I do need powerheads for the main pump, one to sit in the storage bin that I'll mix my saltwater in, and then I need some pump to push the water from the sump back into the tank.. Two maxijet900 sounds good.. one on each end. Those just move the water around...

    powerhead and RO/DI

or how about the magdrive 5 500gph? I don't think the maxijet900 is enough, but maybe, what do I know.. Also, on the magdrive, does the pump go in the water, or do you have to run piping into the tank with the magdrive external?? :notsure:
