    Euro-Reef!

Well it has been running overnight with the output tube in the lowest position and it has just barely started to get some gunk in the collection cup. It is basically just water, but whatever :) I must say I am very impressed with the quality of this product, by far the best made piece of...

    Fish Additions

I'm grooming my 58 to turn into a reef. Currently I have a Clarkii and a Bi-Color blennie. I want to add two fire fish and a naso. I have had the Clarkii for almost two years and the bi-color for about 9 months and am very anxious to get some more fish in this tank!!! I want to order from...

    algea??!!??

sounds like you are progressing OK. The first few months usually suck w/ all the algae battles... but they ease up as long as you go slow and make the right choices for your tank! :) Cheers! (and good luck)

    A few ???

Also 100 pounds of LR on top of that 30 would be an awesome addition to the tank. It's only money right? :D :hilarious

    A few ???

No you won't need the bio filter if you go w/ LR and LS. I use bio balls in my sump but it isn't really necessary. As far as the sump goes get whatever will fit in the bottom of your stand. I've got all my gear in my sump so only two power-heads, the overflow box and the return line are visible...

    QT question

I keep bio balls in my sump and use those in the QT. Works well for me. I also keep my QT up 24/7 though.

    Emergancy questions needed NOW

Perhaps make a fresh saltwater solution to rinse? My worry is that with all the scrubbing and rinsing you are going to have a lot of die off which will start another cycle and then you have a whole different problem to deal with.

    Emergancy questions needed NOW

If you need to scrub your LR then do so in the old tank water... no need to rinse it under the tap when you are done IMO. Water should be aerated for 24 hours to make sure the salt is properly dissolved and the PH and all that stuff stabilizes.

    waste/detritus

it should be within reason.... if you have a 55 gallon tank you shouldn't install 8 1200 GPH power heads :) Shoot for about 15x turnover and you will be ok IMO. Then you just play with the outputs until you get what you want.

    waste/detritus

2 words: water movement. IMO the more water movement you have the longer waste is suspended in the air, thus it never settles and eventually gets removed via skimmer or mechanical filtration, ect... I've got a power head blowing behind my LR to keep stuff from settling back there. hope this helps.

    Whats 16w good for?

16w will not be enough light to keep corals IMO.

did I get a decent deal?

Sounds like my first tank, 44 pentagon corner. Cool little tank if you ask me. The hood is c$)p though! I built a new hood about two months after and but some PC's (96w) in... worked well until I upgraded to my new Oceanic 58 after the 44 got destroyed in a move :(

    Powerhead Question

Maxi-jets are the way to go IMO. Best PH's out there. I haven't used the power sweep pumps but I have heard they are not very reliable.

    cycling again ?

You will probably be ok with the mini-cycle, just test everyday and do water changes (10%) everyday IMO until things settle down. The copper could end up being a problem because it does attach itself to everything as stated earlier, I would get a copper test kit and see if it does become a...
