    perfect water

    Temp - 79 - 81 Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate - 0 (up to 20 is acceptable) Salinity - 1.023 - 1.025 Calcium - 360 - 420 PH - 8.1 - 8.3 As a rule these are the ranges that you look to keep - they are subjective however - certain species may have more specific requirements for which you would...

    Tap Water?

you should raise your salinity a little 1.023 - 1.025 is ideal IMO look at the plumbing pipes in your house - if they are copper pipes you water will have a higher copper content. As SCSI said - the LFS do not test for copper - you may specifically request that they do test for it - some will at...

    Maroon Gold Striped Clownfish?

Yes I have bought from here and have had no problems - I did, in fact, buy a gold striped clown not long ago .

    fighting conch

these guys will do well in either one - they are very slow growers so you can keep them for quite some time even in a smaller tank.

    Coralife 48" T5 fixture flickers

You may have one of several problems : there could be wear or corrosion in the socket contacts there may be a loose connection in the internal wiring these are what I would figure as the two most likely suspects. GL

    nothing running on tank?

It's not luck - it's science. How long have had your tank - how was it cylced - what are the test readings now - what equipment are you using - what size tank is it and what livestock do you have in it. Post these answers and you'll get a proper solution here. The keys to this game are patience...

    Cyanobacteria

You certainly do NOT want to use bleach to "purify" your water - bleach is loaded with phosphates and can kill your fish if the levels are high. Try to submit pics and give a list of livestock you have in the tank and someone here will give you a safe remedy. What water do you normally use for...

Turn around time on SWF.com orders

They usually will ship out next day - unless you place your order Thurs-Sun - then you would be looking at a Monday shipping (so that they don't sit in fed ex warehouse for the weekend) You also have the option of paying extra for Sat delivery.

    saltwater hermit to freshwater??

NO - he will not survive in FW - some can make it to brackish but that doesn't help you much. Take it to your LFS and let them take care of it.

Whats this coming from my Blue Linkea Star?

Unfortunately for me when I was doing a water change I didn't see my linkia behind the overflow on the back wall of the tank and thus dropped the water level below him - he did not make it.

Whats this coming from my Blue Linkea Star?

I had a blue linkia do the same things - the wound could be from moving about in the rocks and would normally heal. The "intestine" thing does not sound good - that happens when they have had their central disc exposed to air and are dying as a result (but not always). If that is the case the...

    how does SWF ship?

are you west of the 405 ? as I understand it the fire is all on that side. Wish you well either way. I lived in San Fernando Valley for many years so I saw my share of these darned fires. Oops - not 405 I meant the 134

Not quite 20 questions, but close

For raising salinity - you should do it incrementally - you can add a little salt to the overflow or when you do your water changes you can slowly increase the salinazation of the new water until you reach your desired overall level. As a rule you should not raise the salinity more than .001 in...

The sand sifting star is part of your cleanup crew - thay omnivorous - they will scavenge and eat detritus, leftover foods and even some algae. If your tank is well established you shouldn't need to spot feed the star - he'll be fine

    how does SWF ship?

All part of the learning curve I suppose. What part of LA are you in? Those fires look pretty nasty this time around (again!!) I was very saddened to see the Malibu castle go up in flames.
