    how does SWF ship?

they would probably give you a partial credit - but i've ordered a lot of snails from them and never had one die (excepting those that I put in the tank that has a Valentini Puffer in it - didn't know he would snack on them)

Somewhat Newbie here with a ? about lights

if your light is getting dirty that quickly then you've either got it far too close to the surface of the water ( which egg crate would help serve as a spacer ) or you have far too much air circulating in the tank. Are you running an air stone? What type of filter are you using?

What if i get a flame angel from another reef tank?

I have done exactly that - taken a flame angel from someone else's reef tank and put it in my own without any problems. If the angel is fed regularly (not to be confused with often) then it will usually not develope an appetite for the corals.

    how does SWF ship?

If it is reported within the 2 hour period you can get a refund (after returning it to them) if not then you get a store credit. I've had a few that didn't make it and they were very good about their guarantee, as advertised.

    Question About Adding Fish

you should be fine with that - if it is a very small tank just check your parameters to make sure (of course, you're doing that anyway right?).

    how does SWF ship?

I have had a dozen or so deliveries from SWF and have never had to sign for them - you can even leave special instructions on the delivery form as to where you want them left. Only problem is if you are not there any DOA's must be reported within 2hrs of delivery - I've only had a couple of...

Can the Damsel go back in?

You do not need to do either - just having removed the damsel is step one - step two is to do a little re-decorating or moving some rock around - this serves to disorient a bit thus forcing them to claim new territory if they choose to do so. The damsels are typically aggressive but the clowns...

    what sand?

Personally I prefer the middle sized - but if your livestock will be including burrowing types of fish you will need some of the coarse as well - the finer will eventually settle below it - but the super fine stuff is more trouble than it's worth IMO. Any of the sands will cloud your water to...

Question on not eating new fish from SWF.com

If this is a sizeable tank you should be able to keep them alive with a little extra effort but you will need to rethink your stocklist IMO unless you have in the area of 300ga or better. They will do fine for a while because they are small but they will outgrow any smaller tanks. Right now you...

Quick question about adding sand to my tank.

Yes - many recomend it - smell the rock when you go to get it - if it smells funky then it is not fully cured - if it smells more like the ocean then it'll be good - but do not add uncured rock at this point - wait until the tank has cycled and then you can add a little at a time directly to it. strange readings

looks like you are in the middle of the cycle - ammonia at zero is good - wait for nitrites to go to zero - then you need to monitor the nitrates - do water change as needed to lower levels and you're on your way

How to get that final Nitrite Level to 0 PPM

Question on not eating new fish from SWF.com

that's a lot of fish to be adding to a tank - what size is it, how long have you had it set up, what else do you have in it (live and equipment)

Quick question about adding sand to my tank.

The cured rock could be added and would actually help in the cycling of the tank but you should not add any uncured at this time - you need to cycle the tank first - if you must buy the uncured rock you can cure it in a seperate container but there will still be some issues in adding it to such...

Quick question about adding sand to my tank.

you should wait a bit for the live rock IMO unless you are buying LFS fully cured rock that you can get to your tank within an hour or so - otherwise you will have problem due to not having cycled the tank and allowing any bacteria colonization.

How to get that final Nitrite Level to 0 PPM

you can get rid of the bioballs and convert that chamber of the wet n dry to a refugium - adding chaeto will help with the nitrates

Quick question about adding sand to my tank.

Once you have put the sand into the sump you'll be fine - the cloudiness (fine particulates) will not hurt the pump and will settle after a couple of hours. do you have any stock in the tank or live rock ?

Quick question about adding sand to my tank.

you should turn it off to add any to the sump to prevent damaging the pump(s) - in the tank you will just create a big cloudy mess for a while.

    distelled water

no - but if you have good tap water it is cheaper and more convenient - the nutrients will be in the salt that you mix into the water - RO is the best choice - "good" tap water would be 2nd - distilled would be my 3rd
