If possible, you might want to consider spending the extra $50 and getting an Aqua C. Most people will recommend this protein skimmer, and it is probably the most important piece of equipment you will buy. I use ithis skimmer on my 29g and it works amazingly, I am very satisfied.

The key is keeping your calcium, alk and PH in sync with each other. Do a search for dosing Kalk to help maintain these levels. From what I have read, dosing additives sometimes helps but is by no means necessary, and often a wasteful expense.

I am not sure exactly what your problem is (a pic would help) but it is definately not ich. Ich is a parasite and therefor only lives on fish so it will not grow on your rock or hermit shells.

I use the aqua C on my 29 g and do bi-weekly water changes without any problems. It is definately worth the money and you can probably do some online searching to get a good deal on one.

I would probably only do 1 more mexican turbo, they are large and need alot to eat. Also, I would get at least 10 nassarius snails for your sandbed, plus they are cool to watch. Get 1 emerald crab. Other than that the list looks good.

Do a search for a QT tank on this site and you will find lots of info about how to treat your fish. The disease forum will also help you find the right procedure to use. Btw my cleaner shrimp eats everything, even flakes that float on the surface. He'll swim right up and eat them upside down.
