I used a retrofit kit that came with a reflector. It seems to even out the light better and provides a little 'eye protection' when I open the lid.
Just make sure that your wires don't get ripped off when you open the lid and everything else should fall into place for you.
I have the standard Aqua C on a 75 (it was originally purchased for a 55). I also have a CPR backpack. Originally the Aqua C was used with a surface skimmer and did a great job. Since I've added a sump, it was moved into the sump and the CPR is now used for surface skimming. Mine has the...
I had two on a 55 and it did bring the temperature down 3 - 4 degrees. Whether or not you would have the same effect would depend on lighting, etc. If you are going to use them and use two, one of them should have the proportional temperature controller attached.
Just a note that once I...

That's what my bottle say too. That's why I wanted to defer to an expert on the subject :) .
I can't recall ever having a problem with them from the eating and they are hardy, but they get big, and they get big fast. They also can have a tendency toward dominance in a tank. Also, in the adult form, they lose the yellow color.
I never tried calcium buffer, but I'm not sure that it has enough calc to blow them away. I have used solid calcium chloride which is difficult to get into the anemone.
I think picking lime runs about $1.50 for 16 ounces. The one tablespoon solution does a lot of them in. I gave half of mine...
They are good for your tank. What you can't send to BHAV you can send to me.

Despite everything else that you may have read everywhere, 82-84 is the acceptable range for reef tanks. It represents an average temperature in surface water (down to 160 feet I believe) of most of the coral reefs in the world. I have a chiller that kicks on at 82 and off at 80 only because I...
For a filter or a protein skimmer?
I had the one that Eheim makes for their cannister filter modified for another filter. It did an average job which probably had more to do with the modification than the product itself (it never adjusted properly).
I've used surface skimmers for both the CPR...
My general rule of thumb is to find the maximum life set my the manufacturer and divide it in half (ie: They say one year, I change at six months). I believe that Custom Sealife rates the life on their PC bulbs at 18 months, so I would change them at 9 whether they appeared to need it or not...
I'm not an expert and I have no scientific or medical background. The RO/DI unit that I purchased off of ---- is for reef use. They have a more expensive unit for use for drinking water. There has to be a difference and a reason that one unit is not for drinking and one is.
I have also read...

To be honest, I had never used or heard of one until I purchased the book "Natural Reef Aquariums" by John Tullock and I am far from new to the hobby. I'm not sure that reprinting the author's description is acceptable [see page 58 if you have it] (copyright and all of that), but I know that...
Same as the kalk solution mentioned above. Mix a tablespoon of pickling lime to two tablespoons of water. Nuke it in a microwave for 30 seconds. Let the solution cool. Inject them if you can, or just get the solution on them and they will dissolve.
Peppermint shrimp are hit and miss and tend...

I wasn't commenting on your post. I was responding to the original post. We have occasional power outtages here that are normally fixed very quickly, so in my case the pumps serve the purpose. If we were prone to longer power failures or rolling brownouts (what a bunch of bull that is)...
