What would the perfect lfs have?

My favorite LFS has the low open tanks for his corals, so you can also see them from the top. It really does make a difference to see them that way. Also keeps his LR that way. He does layaway plans for me, which is wonderful for the big $ purchases on a working mom salary. Also, if you had a...

You dont have to cycle a tank

I have set up a 20 gal long using LR from, and 60% of it's water from my established 55 gal. I am under no illusion that I will not have a cycle on my hands (it's been a while and I'm pretty stoked). I think it's nature at it's finest and you can't get around it. BTW, ich parasite can survive...

    Water Change For Nitrates

That's a 1/3 water change, I'd wait 3 or 4 days , testing daily and tracking the results. If it starts to head up again, I would do 15 or 20% water change. Please, other opinions, but even with nitrates at 80, you want to try to change it gradually.

    seahorse question

My, my. It turns out I'm a newbie. " (quote)Seahorses seldom accept arranged marriages. In fact seahorse mate selection is considered one of the greatest mysteries of marine biology.(unquote)" So, is it a mystery, or are they promiscuous? You decide and we'll go with that.

    Livestock List for 65

I have used a trick from time to time that has worked. If you move the LR around a bit, it puts all the fish in the same situation and makes it so that there are no "set" territories. Takes the edge off.

    Livestock List for 65

Then I agree with rs1831 about keeping the bioload, well, loaded, but I'd still add the chromis before the clowns because of territorial issues. Do you just not want the damsel anymore?

    Dried brine shrimp cubes

You can thaw part of a cube and refrigerate the unneeded portion, just for a few days, like you would your own food. Granny always told me never to thaw meat and refreeze it. Can't remember why, but I doubt I would have questioned her, anyway. Also, try to add some variety, even pellets would...

    CRAZY Maroon Clown Help!!

I have a yellow tail and a yellow that rearrange my zinnia and waving hand frags. Unbelievably irritating. Funny, tho, too. You will either have to anchor the coral (the fish will get used to it) or place the coral out of the hit zone.

    Livestock List for 65

What size tank? How old is it? Most important to the answer.. Please do add your fish slowly. Adding all at once will send it through another cycle. HH!! The bio-load would be emmense. I think the chromis first. Cardinal, next. Then percs. Angel last and I wouldn't add the gobie or blennie until...
