    Red Slime Crisis!!!

How long do you keep your Chemi-Clean in the tank before doing a water change? I left mine in for 3-4 days. I also went a little stronger than the bottle recommended. I think the dose was 1 spoonful for every 10 gallons of water. I put in 9 for 75 gallons. Keep in mind that you MUST turn...

red slime growing corals shrinking why?

I am just about to use the Chemi-Clean to get rid of my Cyano. Anyone's ideas? I have a 75 gallon reef 2 Seio 820's, 2, marineland powerheads, and 2 emperor 400 power filters. My problem may be caused by my OVERabundance of Xenia, and one Colt Coral that is really, really big. They may be...

    Propagating Xenia question????

don't worry, they will spread on their own after a while. I have traded over 100 stalks of Xenia in the last year, and wish I could trade some more of it....Xenia does better if something is "touching" the main stalk, it will just start another branch onto whatever it's touching. ( be careful...

    New RO/DI Question

I talked with Walter at airwaterice. ( this guy practicaly designed the typhoon ) he said he didn't condone using hot water but a mix somewhere under 77 degrees would be o.k. BUT, keep in well under 77 degrees. He also said that, as suggested above, the metals etc coming out of the hot water...

Xenia problem and I am willing to trade it off for some thing i don't have

Xenia can and will propagate rather quickly. I have more than I need also. I have traded it around here until everyone has enough. I've even kept the local lfs suppllied...I would like to get rid of some as well. Keep in mind that Xenia doesn't travel too well though.

    Eel Question

Eels are predators, they are going to eat whatever will fit into their mouths when hungry. A snowflake eel isn't a good idea in a 12 gallon tank, as they can get rather large. Mine started out about 6-8" long and about as big around as a pencil. It died recently when it decided to go "floor...

    Princess Parrotfish

The Princess Parrotfish is an attractive fish but in a reef tank there are some exceptions. The maximum length of this fish can get to around 13", so it is going to take a fairly large tank (135 gal). It likes fresh chopped or frozen seafoods, flake food, frozen foods for herbivores, etc...
