Does a cycling tank hurt the cured live rock?? does it hurt the cycle process?

Wow 6 weeks... What did you use to start the cycle? A jumbo shrimp? How much LR did you cycle it with? And was it cured? Thanks

Here is your idea in action... I've been using this for 4 years. It works pretty good but the flow is a little to fast. The main tank is on the other side of the wall. It all drains back into the main sump. I can valve off the 40 breeder to use as a QT tank for new fish. That works great.

Also put a grounding probe in your tank for safety.

Copper band butterfly fish & peppermint shrimp eat them up.

Question is do you want to set it up just cheep or do you want to set it up for longevity and ability to work correctly. There are a lot of products out there that can get you by but just can't handle the job. It's can get costly. If you want an eel you need lr for hiding... a very good filter...

OK, I've got my new 180 up and cycling with 75 lbs of LR. I'm putting a 8" Queen trigger in there. She has a nasty attitude from what I'm told. Eats anything that hits the tank. My LFS has it in a 30 gal tank hooked up to a 600 gal system. Can I put anything at all in there with her. Moray? Ray...

Wow, you might want ask a structural engineer for that. There are a lot of factors that could play into that question. Like how is the tank sitting... Across the joist? or with the joist?... ******** wall? or exterior wall? code?
