    anyone with experience with electric flame scallops

    They dont have any special lighthing requirements, but they like to hide under and behind rocks. Removing them and repeatedly replacing them up front to view them easier just stresses them out. I had one die, and over 24 hours they just deflate and shrivel up.

    Cloudy stain on empty tank...

    I just dug out a 50 gallon tank from the attic and its got a cloudy residue or something staining it. Not grainy or scratchy - smooth. Cant get it off. Has anyone seen glass become cloudy before?

    Im trying to set up a 50 gallon fresh tank and I dont know much. First, can I use my leftover cc as a fresh substate? Second, everything else!! Is there a cycle wait, what type of filter, etc.

    I feed mine liquid phytoplankton directly into their shells from a straw, about 2 strawfulls per 50 gallons of water. This keeps them very healthy but it also stains the inside of my glass with green dots. Brine shrimp are supposed to help (live that is).

    Thats not half as bad as 30 gallons of water INSIDE Your house! Look at it that way. I just had 2 $30 psuedos get eaten by my ribbon eel. Just gotta suck it up and smile!

    FRESHWATER DIPS

    Add a couple of drops of formaldehyde as well if your LFS has it. its only a couple of bucks. 10 minute dips every other day for 2 weeks helped my copperband.

    I know that they eat copepods, and you need live rock, but dont underestimate the effectiveness of LIVE BRINE SHRIMP. Mine eats them like candy.

    I dipped my copperband in fresh water for 10 minutes every other day for about 10 days and with some RO water changes, he recovered in 2 weeks. Good luck! PS add some formaldehyde to the fresh water (2 drops per gallon) Its like $1 at your lFS

    Anyone think their snails are just really cool?

    I think freshwater snails are great to watch, but saltwater ones are just boring, ugly, and a pain to turn upright every time they fall over. Fresh are great though! Ive got 1 fish and 5 snails in my 10 gallon fresh tank!
