    Algae indentification

corals can be simply temp acclimated and dropped in. tho some will say you should drip them to be on the safer side. you should normally wait about 6 months before adding coral so your system is mature and stable.

Can't make up my mind on fish and lighting for a 150 or 180

i custom built mine to be as large as i could fit it under my canopy. you can see it in my multiphase upgrade thread in the DiY section.

    Algae indentification

the food you feed your tank. frozen cubes are notorious. and the excrement of the fish and corals. phosphates are absorbed quickly by calcerous material like LR and LS and coral skeleton but after a while it reaches its max absorption potential and it will build up in your water column. i...

lol well please take into consideration everyone's opinions and dont just jump on the first yes you get. that can get you into a lot of trouble, quickly. as for fuge, the bigger the better.

Can't make up my mind on fish and lighting for a 150 or 180

i think they should leave each other alone. yellow coris is super friendly and great personality, and the other wrasse being another species should cause no problems, i just would not risk two males. so you are basically looking at 4 dragonette fish, which witha fuge and an established tank...

Can't make up my mind on fish and lighting for a 150 or 180

hmm this sounds a bit more realistic. i dont know what is involved with caring for an achilles but people find them very difficult to care for. i also dont know what the track record with lyretails are but anthias can be hit or miss community attitudes. in a school, tho, they should be fine...

Can't make up my mind on fish and lighting for a 150 or 180

hmm i am thinking your fish list is a bit too over-ambitious for a 150. possibly pushing it even for a 225, but that would be much more comfortable as long as you had a good amount of LR for fitlration. many wrasses are reef safe, there are also many that are not. i believe any fairy or...

    changing my 55 to a 75

if you have the time and space to do what limpid is talking about, then that is the better way. i did something like that when transferring a 75->150 and it didnt even re-cycle.

strange clicking noise in the tank at night??

possible? yes. not likely tho. they usually grab the prey and bring it back to there cave and crack the shell there. all im saying is i have never seen a single post of 'help my mantis blew out my tank'

strange clicking noise in the tank at night??

mantis breaking glass is a long standing rumor. i have never seen someone post that it has happened to them or seen it happen. the mantis only use it to kill their prey , how would a wall of glass be misconstrued as prey? seems like it is most likely and mantis, or possibly a pistol of some kind.

    First fish problem...

you are going to want to set up a QT tank and run hypo , carefully watching levels and doing WC's as the QT cycles. after hypo continue counting out until your tank has ran 6 weeks without a fish. its the only to be sure your tank is clean of it
