    to all the doubters.....

who is being negative? i am just a cut and dry, to the point sorta guy. the only thing negative in this thread i am seeing is people telling you that it most likely wont work out for a long time. and while being nice about it , at that.

    power pump question

i had a 35g hex tank set up with an over sized sump. the sump was pushing back to the tank with a Rio 3100 and i added to MJ400's in the tank for more flow.

    to all the doubters.....

as people have stated: a)its not success until you have them happy together for a year. b)the thread title is very stand offish, and you will rub people the wrong way. c)you have stated numerous times defensively, when not even asked "im not new at this". the funny thing is, you can do things...

    2 mandarin?

what type of mandarin is it? if it is a green or spotted, i would say you can do it as long you dont mix 2 males, and keep the species the same. you should also need at least 80 lbs of LR. you can tell males from females because males will have a long protruding spine on the dorsal fin that...

    Help with plate coral...please

actually keep them on the rocks, most people put them on sand beds and that is why they have a bad track record. the coral is not found in the sand in nature, and the "skirt" that drops down gets irritated in a sand bed. this will inhibit growth and lead to a cause of stress and death. I do...

    Woot! First fish and coral!

dont trust a LFS to test your water, they are using the cheapest stuff most of the time and not reading it or performing the tests with any accuracy. get yourself the decent quality ones and test your own water for the essentials. did you drip acclimate the fish? something you may want to look...

    Woot! First fish and coral!

im sorry to rain on your parade howard, but if you are putting this fish into a 12 g nano, the fish will starve to death. a scooter blenny is not a blenny at all. Rather, a member of the mandarin dragonette family which are creatures highly adapted to eating live pods from your rocks and sand...

    hood and leveling?

well you sorta lost me with your leveling rant, a picture should help. my tank is in a room that is not level at all, my water is on about 3-5 degree slope in the tank... concerning the fans, have them all blowing IN and across the water surface and lights. you are then pulling in cooler air...

HELP HELP HELP my water is white!

do not use tap water. use only RO or RO/ DI you need to test certain levels of your water parameters, if you cant because the test kit cost is too much, then this is not the hobby for you, as this is a very expensive hobby.

HELP HELP HELP my water is white!
