RO/DI water with low pH and KH

I recently installed a RO/DI unit in my home. Our tap water has a low pH and alk to begin with so how should I go about correcting this before I use the water for top-off. I don't seem to have the problem when I use this water to make salt water as I'm sure that there must be some buffering...

Switching from Dwarfs to Larger Seahorses???

I can see them all. Maybe if you refreshed your page if you haven't already.

Anybody else out there like to make soup?

I was thinking about making a gumbo for tomorrows game and friends coming over, but it's too warm for soup out here. I love soup though. So easy to make, throw whatever is in the frige and freezer into a pot and presto! Mmmm, jambalaya that might be good for tomorrow too. I was going to BBQ...

    Got my ponies

No worries. I posted a ton of questions here and on other sites too and that was after reading a book on Dwarf Seahorses. Besides everytime I read a post by either TeresaQ, Rynka, Cleve and Tom, I'm learning something new about seahorses. Always better to ask questions before the fact than...

    Got my ponies

Thanks everyone! I'm in love with them already. A few of them are pregnant and one delivered 6 babies. I used my camera to record the event. What an amazing thing to witness!! I've prophylacticly dosed the QT with PraziPro and will do a freshwater/meth blue dip before eventually putting them...

Watchman Goby / Six Line Wrasse Owners!

I had a 6 line wrasse and a watchman goby. They seemed fine together with neither of them giving the other any problem. My watchman doesn't seem to like anyone getting too close to him or his hole but the wrasse never bothered him.

    Got my ponies

Thanks. One of them had babies this morning so I have 6 new ponies. I called my nephew downstairs to watch after making the decision that this was a good reason for him to be late to school. Everyone is doing fine. Temp 72-74, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5. I didn't think of this before...

    Got my ponies

I've got my ponies and even though I've prepared, I worry that I'm not. I posted a thread that had some random questions in it, one being a feeding station for dwarfs but didn't get any responses. I thought that I'd try it even though I know with BBS, there's no asking them to stay in one...

    Four new Fillies!

I started looking for any reference to external parasites regarding seahorses. Do they still have those white spots? I read on a seahorse dot communication site that Hydrogen Peroxide dips may be easier on horses than that of formalin. You and your girls are in my thoughts.

    random seahorse questions

Couple of random questions I have for you seahorse keepers and I’d rather not start a separate thread for each. I’ve read up on how people feed their seahorse and I’d like a little clarification. One of the things I’ve read is that if there are still BBS present after about 4 hours then I’ve...

    Garibaldi damselfish

The grayish-black fish posted is a damselfish but it's not a garibaldi. The first photo of the orange and blue spotted fish is a garibaldi and as it gets older it loses it's spots until it is orange. Damselfish can be agressive, especially when you consider their size. The Garibaldi is...

    Aquarium Diver

In Southern California, to be a diver at our local aquarium you of course need to be certified and you need to hold a certification of at least Rescue Diver (PADI) or equivalent through another agency. The majority of the divers here are volunteer.

    Pink Tip DOES host!

Nice!! Lucky you!! I wish my clownfish would host in my anemone, but maybe the clown goby shoos them away when I'm not looking. My clown goby has claimed my condi and hosts there instead. I would recommend making sure that your anemones are well fed.

    HELP quickly please - BABIES!

Sorry for the quick hijack. Tom, I also appreciate your posts. I learn something from each one I read. I love forums, I learn so much more reading them than just a book (though that does give me a foundation) because there are so many other things that 'happen' that never seem to be in a...

Anyone have photos of brine shrimp hatchery?

Thanks. It's great to feel welcomed. I've been a member on a Scuba forum for years and know so many people there that is was daunting coming onto here and knowing no one. Does anyone know if Mandarins might eat BBS? I put the ones I made in my test batch in my DT. Everyone seemed thrilled to...
