    chicago frag trade?

Would anyone be interested in trading some frags? I live in the north burbs and figured there had to be some fellow reefers around who would be up for it.

    bio balls to base rock

My system has been up for about a year now and I am tired of my trates going up because of the wet dry. I was thinking of changing it over and putting some baserock in the sump, that I assume would become live in time. Will this help? The water moves at about 500 gph in there, give or take...

if you could do any thing you wanted?

I would have a trained orca, shrunk to 1/1000 scale (or whatever needed to fit in a 75) that I could sic on my evil hard to catch damsels. It would also be quite the conversation piece.

    Zooplankton by sweet water?

I just bought some of the stuff and it made for some happy tank mates. The corals, fish, and the clean up crew all gorged themselves on the stuff. Even when it is not bad it smells terrible. Whiff at your own risk.

What's the BEST decision you've made for your tank?

I echo Thomas...but as for hardware/living stuff I think adding a refuge. Pods all over the place, lower trates, and a whole new world to keep an eye on.

    spec mix?

I have a question for anyone who has tried to make their own base rock...From what I have read, you need portland type 3 cement. I have never heard of the stuff. I asked my father, who owns two construction companies, and he has never heard of the stuff. Is this the same as Spec mix? Spec...

    Refug where is yours

I have a hang on refuge and i am pretty happy with it. I used kent biosediment as its substrate and this works well because it is so fine. My pods and macro are growing like mad. I will someday make a larger one, but the hang on isn't too bad, IMO. Oh...I keep mine on the side of the tank so...

    red slime

Do a search in this forum...red slime may be the most talked about thing on this site, minus of course the cycle and water chemistry. You will find all you need and more! HTH

    refuge refuse

Yeah...I do feed some of it to my tank, but the fish don't seem too into the taste of grape caulpera. I also don't like that it gets pulled into powerheads and such and returns all the nutrients back into the water. I feed some, but I am looking for a way to get the pods off for the stuff I do...

    refuge refuse

I need to cut some of the macro out of my refuge and I was wondering about something...does anyone have a technique for separating all the pods out of it? I feel bad losing all these guys when I crop and was hoping someone here had some brilliant secret for saving their tiny lives.

    how big is large?

Four feet squared for $50 would be a pretty nice deal. I could frag it, travel the country, and become the Johnny Appleseed/Preparation-H Raymond of colt corals:) Thumbs up to swf.com for adding so many new corals.

getting my first 25# of LR any advice would be good

I wouldn't worry about it prolonging your cycle...you will be getting a ton of good bacteria and it could speed your cycle. Make sure your salinity, temp, and such are where you want them. Enjoy your first load and maybe get a magnifying glass to see all the little guys that will come out to...

    refugium

I have a cpr hang on refuge on my 75 and I am a big fan. It was no work and I just had to buy a little 13 watt compact to clip on to it. The whole thing cost me about $140 and it is now filled with pods and two types of macro. It is worth a look.

    how big is large?

I just ordered another U-build it and was wondering how big the colt I ordered is? It is listed as large, but what does that mean? Anyone order one of these? What should I expect? Thanks

    Hermit Stunts!!!

The thing that endears my evil blue legs to me is watching them climb on the back of a snail and suddenly finding themselves half way up the tank side with no parachute. These guys are really the court jesters of my tank, much more so than the quiet sophistication of the scarlets.
