    Cannister + Fuge

Only thought I have is the high flow. Are the frags in the last stage so the bugs can find a way out? Interesting idea. Be curious to see how it works for you.

    Yellow Polyps

I don't feed mine directly but they may get stuff when I feed my LPS and fish. Mine are under MH and PC and directly under 150 watts MH at about 1 foot depth. As with you about medium flow. They're spreading like crazy. Good Luck!

    Bought My First Coral

Congrats! Most people acclimate like they do fish. I must admit that for corals I've never done much to acclimate, but then I know the source and my LFS and I have pretty much the same water parameters. This site has some good acclimation instructions. < [hr] See Here! Now comes the hard...

    Fuge Pump Recommendation

Great question! One inch pvc connected to the bulkhead with a straight sloping return to the DT. Thanks

    Sand question

Did the gobies just move the sand away? If so, couldn't you just move it back? In answer to your question, yes to live sand in a bag and yes to live sand from another tank. This may be an ongoing event though. I have a gold strip maroon clown that loves his clear spot on the bottom of the tank...

What is safe for my fish

The regular purple stuff is fine. Just make sure it's completely set and let the fumes air off before use. Good Luck!

    Fuge Pump Recommendation

I currently have a maxi 900 pushing water from my DT to a 28 gallon rubbermaid fuge. Head from the pump to the fuge is 2-3 ft. My sense is that the flow through the fuge is not high enough. Have some cyano in the fuge and the gravity bulkhead return just seems slow. Any suggestions on a pump...

    Attaching to Glass

I've always liked the look of gsp or xenia covering the back glass. Any one have any experience at getting that to happen? What technique did you use for either of those corals?

    species only tank

I have a 10 gallon in my office at work. Only fish in it is a gold stripped maroon. He's a constant source of entertainment for me and my employees. I guess you could call it a species tank. Truth is he would destroy any other fish I put in there.

    Blue or black background...

My first reef was blue and my 2nd is black. I like the black better as it seems to make the back of the tank disappear. As said earlier though, in time it will probably be covered in coraline anyway.

Those with a 125 gallon... rock question

There is an awesome store in Hoover. Practically behind the Galleria Mall. It's called Aquarium Designs. Lot's of great animals (fish and coral) and very sound advice. Good Luck with your tank.

Those with a 125 gallon... rock question

I have about 150lbs in my 125. Don't let weight be your only guide as some rock is heavier than others. Here's a pic of mine and I don't think it's overly full. Where are you in Alabama? There are some good resouorces in the state.

    Snails and Hermits In Fuge

I've noticed some of you put snails and hermits in your fuge. I guess I understand if you have a fuge that's visible as it would help with glass and sand. Are there other good reasons to have them in a fuge?

post pics of tangs in tanks around 125 gallons

Foxfaces are reef safe and are great at picking out algea. Grazes probably better than the tang. Only precaution is understanding that their dorsal fins are venemous, but they're use for defense only. I think they're great reef citizens.

    Do You Feed Your Fuge?

Does anyone feed the fuge? If so what and how often? I would think you would need some food for the bugs to eat, but then again you're adding to the overall load of the tank.

    Nitrates and Air bubbles

The tiny bubbles on your rock could also be respiration from algea. One way to check is to look at the rock first thing after lights on. If there are no bubbles present, check again after lights have been on for quite a while. If you have bubbles then it's probably the algea. Once you get a...
